All 600+ hp.w/ no chassis Dyno sheet in sight.I have been a diesel mechanic for 34 years & just shake my head at all the "Bullshit".

I'll agree with you Tim, I've been driving a 14 l Detroit has 550hp in 9th and 10th, what I'm told, and it is a beast.

When I when I put truck on the road and make sure everything is Right windshields mirrors everything when he buys trucks he shows all the stuff that's not oh not right we'll just broken please show that stuff

Never had a 60 Series but I have 2 DD-16 's. I love them very much. They pull like freight trains.

Tim seeing you and son working together is great. My father was a owner operator and the OTR driver. But he had a lot of friends that where ower operators. I learned alot that pushed myself into working on trucks until I when into USGC for 28years still worked big motors. I started out breaking tries at 8. At 16 when full time working on Detroit 71 and 92. Until 20 them the military. You and you dad are doing that young man a great service. I do note a safety thing when you where test running DD. You need to take some exhaust pipe the size of the turbo inlet weld some expand metal on. Put over turbo inlet when running any motor. I work with a man missing most of two fingers on one hand from falling and has hand landed in the turbo. Keep up the good work.

Yes the engine sounds good at 1100 rpm but that is where critical torsional vibrations come out ( on inline 6 cyl 4 cycle engines) wait till you start buying all the componets behindthe engine!!

Another great video. We loved the ring stuff when we had it. got rid of it when we found out it records everything (sound & video) sending that info to Amazon. there is no way to turn that off. 🤙

I'd always wondered how good a tuned 14 liter ran. 2 years ago I was in Missoula started talking to the fella next to me getting fuel as I checked my oil. He commented he had a kitty cat killer 14 liter.... it was a work of art to look at he'd obviously didn't s fortune in it. It was a good thing he didn't money on a good cb as well because every long grade we got to he just fell further and further behind. I was gone wrong done when he walked into the restaurant at the TA in Laural....

Great video! I like all your videos cause each one is at the least a little different. I've drove a few 14 liters and one that was non-Fat. I really liked driving that truck! I pulled a 1,000 KW generator around the south east with it for the department of justice and it ran like a champ!

You do these tests empty. Would love to see the performance fully loaded. I drive a 389 Peterbilt and it runs awesome empty but loaded looses quite a bit of speed up the hills. Not saying anything bad against your truck at all actually used to drive one. But just would like to see the loaded performance.

The 14L Detroits are money. I remember driving one for a few years and never had any serious issues, They have a lot of low end power and around 1,300-1,800 rpm was where they shine. Still one of the best engines ever made

Your bobtailing, hell any truck will feel powerful!

Want to put it to the test, bring it up to western Canada and pull a set of Super-B’s and drive the mountains from Calgary to Vancouver through the mountains. That I believe would really give it a great test drive Tim. One more thing which is my pet peeve, drivers who forget to turn off the turn signal after the turn or make a lane change because your wasting a lot of blinker juice driver.

Injectors and Injector cups are alot easy to replace on the 14 vs the 12.7 they are good motors

There is a metal scrap yard behind my shop and they have 2 perfect metal 379 hoods that have been there for at least 2 years. I was thinking about buying them to flip.

Tim watch them 14 liters we put 3 turbos on one motor one of them blew the ones out of it in to the intercooler but yeah them detroits make awesome power I have a cat 3406e the bxs it has a hard time keep up with that Detroit they are awesome motorsand cheap to work on

I envy your relationship between you all. I'm not jealous, it reminds me of my trucking time with my father before I was 10 in the early 1980s in Australia. My mother took me to the UK and for 30 years I would be caring for her, still do now. Had a bad accident back in 2011 that broke most of me up and I still wonder what if. However, my thirst for trucking hasn't left me and your videos are a way to fuel my passion. Relations in Australia are still trucking, heavy haul, wide loads, outback road trains... Keep on trucking. 10-4

It pains me to say, but all I here about is how well you, and your family is doing, never about how well your drivers are doing. In this rough times, it would be nice to see e drivers appreciated for their sacrifices, the time they spend behind that wheel is time spent away from their families, I’m happy you’re doing well, and I like how you encourage drivers to become owner operators, lord knows people always forget what made them successful.

I'm jealous. I only drove 12.7s rated at 435/500 with straight 10s, Super 10s, and 10 top 2 (those were interesting. Autoshifted between 9th and 10th). AND, they were governed at 65 mph. Of course that was 20 years ago. 😆

I went by there today in a black jeep Cherokee xj...... from the look on you and your sons face you liked it.

On my family farm we had a 2000 w900l with a 12.7 it wasnt tuned or anything it was always hooked to a hopper bottom nothing else pulling 1100 bushel constantly, and it didn’t like the weight it was a weak engine but the reliability was insane ran it from off the lot brand new all the way to 1,00,000 miles it never let us down had a overhaul at 1 million then ran for another 300k miles thats when we sold her

Someday the red classic may end up with an 14L when that engine needs overhauled as an upgrade, I assume that truck is about ready to be put back on the road soon
