Episode 1380
the newest firmware update fixes this problem. I'm late to the party, but I didn't know they had fixed this.
from Rigol website:
v00.01.03.00.03 2021/10/18
- Optimized waveform display in XY mode.
- Optimized the DC gain calibration algorithm.
- The La channel is decoded in parallel, which solved the problem of decoding
error in negative polarity.

That's one of the things I really like about the new digital test equipment, firmware bug fixes and feature upgrades. The gift that keeps on giving.
Rigol need to work on their user interface. After the update you get that message box saying reboot the scope, but there is the spinning icon thing in the top left corner of the message box. Everybody knows that a spinning icon means to wait. So I waited for it to stop spinning... and waited, but it never stops. I'd left it for at least an hour before crossing my fingers and rebooting whilst praying I didn't brick the thing.
I like to use the xy mode for quickly testing vintage scopes. Old digital scopes usually do a terrible job in that mode. My ancient HP54510A won't do xy mode at all - but I like it a lot.🥰

This is why I still have my phosphor scopes.
Thanks for this nice video.
Hi, thanks for this video. I did the same as you, but my scope stops at 100% of the progress bar at the start, and that it is. Did you notice a longer first start after the firmware upgrade?
Ok super merci !
Did the hack Still work after the update or did you need to apply it again?

Had to apply again
Have the same scope w/same "upgrades" Does the Firmware change affect the "upgrades"?

Did you tried ? I'm going to receive mine soon and I would like to perform the same "upgrades" 👀
Did the firmware update change your scope back to the 70Mhz version? I saw on the about screen display 5072.

yes, I had to re-hack
There is a new 2023 update: v00.01.03.02.02 (2023/01/04). Have you tried this with respect to the - uh - "upgraded functions" of this scope? I guess the latest FW is more practical for those who control the scope via a browser (VNC), as it's not much new in the change log from Rigol except a color change for the trace in channel 4.

I might leave well enough alone. reading the blog, people are successful with that new version and there is a patch file. so, maybe some day...
Can you verify that all the options you'd enabled still work? I was under the impression that if the scope was hacked moving to newer firmware was problematic? Or is that an old wives tale ?

Nevermind. I read all the subsequent comments.
Since you are "synchronising" 2 signals check out tinyPFA firmware for the NanoVNA.

Yes the update works on mine too. And I hacked mine a long time ago. Everything is described in detail on the eevblog channel.
Did this undo the bandwidth and options hack?

Yes. Had to redo the hack

@@IMSAIGuy May I suggest you pin this comment so that it is always at the top? I bought this scope but haven't done the hack yet. So, I should run all the firmware upgrades and then apply the hack? And, does the same hack work or do you need a new hack?
Have you managed to get ch3 & ch4 back?

yes no problem
Very nice, I have the same scope. If fact, you sell me this scope :) I'll do the update. Thank you!
