it’s legend that sarah good had told nicholas noyes “I am no more a witch than you are a wizard, and if you take away my life God will give you blood to drink” and in 1718, Reverend Noyes died of a brain hemorrhage, choking on his own blood.

This is a powerful lesson… A high school class is learning about the Salem Witch Trials. Their teacher told them they were going to play a game. "I'm going to come around and whisper to each of you whether you're a witch or a regular person. Your goal is to build the largest group possible that does NOT have a witch in it. At the end, any group found to include a witch gets a failing grade." The teens dove into grilling each other. One fairly large group formed, but most of the students broke into small, exclusive groups, turning away anyone they thought gave off even a hint of guilt. "Okay," the teacher said. "You've got your groups. Time to find out which ones fail. All witches, please raise your hands." No one raised a hand. The kids were confused and told the teacher he'd messed up the game. "Did I?” He asked. “Was anyone in Salem an actual witch? Or did everyone just believe what they'd been told?" And that is how you show kids how easy it is to divide a Community. Shunning, scapegoating, placing blame and dividing will each destroy far more than they will protect. Don’t allow fear to cloud your decisions. Use your own discernment. Trust your heart…and your gut. The best teachers will show you where to look, but they won’t tell you what to see. ~Unknown

My maternal grandmother was born in Salem, Massachusetts, and she had traced back her ancestry to the Salem Witch Trials! Basically we are descendants from 'witches'. She told me that the 'gift' is handed down by the female line of the family. Which makes me wonder if there wasn't something more going on back then, especially since every female ancestor in my grandmother's family since 1600's Salem has had this 'gift'(including myself) 🤔

I think we all have potential for gifts if we work at it. Like if you want a strong body, you work out your muscles. If you want strong gifts, you work your brain, or specific parts of your brain, mainly your pineal gland. The food we eat, chemicals we are exposed to squash our pineal gland, but you can get it back. So when you have a family who remembers those abilities and has worked their whole lives keeping them, they naturally want to pass them down. Women are naturally more inclined to be intuitive, men have an ability to be but usually don't stray down that path. All that to say, I'm glad your family has passed on those abilities to you and given you knowledge of how to deal with those abilities. I think it's actually quite important and I hope one day, and one day soon, everyone can start getting back there.

Happy Halloween!! I have been building my family tree and a distant grandmother, Goodwife (Goody) Knapp, was executed by hanging in April 1653 in Hartford, Connecticut, after being accused of witchcraft. Her daughter was also accused but not executed. Still doing more research and uncovering many things from that time.

If you dig around in the Salem papers, you'll discover that most of the people who were killed during the trials had land that the reverend wanted. I did a whole analysis of this for my MA in 2007 using the court records available. It was interesting to dig around in it. The other theory is the wheat they were using for food had been contaminated and created hallucinations. Thank you for covering this.

I was born in Salem, MA and raised down the street in Lynn, MA. I’m considered a “Salem Witch” since I was born in Salem Hospital. Every year in October, my family from the North Shore goes to Salem almost every weekend. It’s such a good time. So many people from out of state come there. I now stay in Peabody which is right between Salem and Danvers and I must say, Danvers is still more expensive and highbrow than Salem.

Servants of Satan: Age of Witch Hunts by Joseph Klaits is a good book. Discussing trends in accused’s, Europe and American WT, the different “scientific research/evidence” proving what a witch is etc.

Susannah Martin was my ancestor, one of the last to have her name cleared. I love the records of her hearing that say she basically laughed in the face of her accusers, knowing they would murder her regardless. Came here from your Mile Higher collab and currently binging every single episode 😁 Little annoyed with the YT algorithm that it never recommended your channel but you have quickly become my favorite 🩵
