This is top notch black metal. 1349 stand on a level above all others. How is it they never disappoint true fans of the genre? Sitting in the darkness where animals creep, crickets sing, mosquitos buzz about and 1349 blasting through the night with another masterpiece. 🤘🏻

Frost is the most underrated drummer I ever seen, his curriculum is impeccable, yet you don't see many people talking about him, this should be a crime

'1349' never disappoints! \m/

1349's sound has always been the archetype for modern black metal to me. They somehow manage to compose absolute bangers in an otherwise stagnant genre, but they do so while staying true to their roots. Ever since Liberation was released in 2003 there's only one album that I didn't care for much: Revelations of the Black Flame. All of the others have been superb! After hearing this song, I have no doubt that The Wolf and The King will be superb as well.

The genre is stangnant mostly in Norway where they keep making these same sounding albums for over 20 years. Like Mayhem that has been trying to reinvent itself album after another and producing only mediocre stuff. Copy paste the same Snorre Ruch minor chord riffs all over and now its something new? 1349 is no exception. All these ideas are again recycled ideas from late 90's but with better production. I hear nothing new in this song.

What's great about 1349 is that they manage to make old school black metal sound fresh and interesting. Which is saying something since most black metal bands are perfectly happy regurgitating the same old same old with no character or anything new or interesting, and a whole lot of posturing and face paint and spiked leather to make up for it. Most of the time I just pat them on the head and walk away, but 1349 earn my respect for being great at what they do.

This has nothing to do with old school black metal. It's the same generic norwegian style they started making at late 90's. Not a single riff that sounds like Sarcofago, Bathory or "old school" in general

I recently became a fan I have been impressed with everything they do such ab amazing band

This just showed up on my recs and, though it is far from the "Pagan Folk" music I listen to, I'm also a believer in trying something out of my comfort zone, so I watched the video. No, it is not my kind of music...but, I can appreciate the artistry of it, its complexity, and that it requires some serious skills both, instrumentally and vocally. Another thought struck me as I watched the video, and I know this sounds strange, but I've wondered if souls are reborn in different universes and realities, because some people are incredibly drawn to certain "tribes", for lack of a better word...and some of those "tribes" have aesthetics that truly seem to come from different realms. Just a thought I had to put out there.
