Proof that you don't need a hundred toms and cymbals to sound great. This is pure mastery. Sick cover as always.
And here I am struggling with 5 minutes of 210 bpm blast beat. Insane, Wanja! Cheers Sam

Practicing blast beats at home saves alot of hustling over to the gym,thats very intense to play blast beats at 7 minutes,that was totally awesome...
Best black metal song ever been done. change my mind

Sehr gelungenes Cover\m/
Fantastic all round technique and great stamina...also thinking of buying a crash like that
Impressive...this song is perfect to practise blast beat... and one of my fav mayhem songs
That Single foot blast is actually pretty insane! GJ!
I've never seen this played with one foot! Absolutely amazing!
Super gespielt!
Undoubtedly impressive technique, but I'd love to see a cover of the Mayhem version, complete with hi-hat accents, fills and other nuances - especially the version for the Alive album
Fantastic work, dude!! One of my favorite MayheM songs. Great speed, accuracy and precision all throughout. Hornz and Hailz!! 🤘🤘
That was perfect. Amazing!
Extremely good! And Nice one foot blasts! 😀
So insane! Blast off. So amazing.
Thats the best cymbal ad i have ever seen, im soon planning on buying a new set, and ill probably go with these

I know I'm late on this but, very interesting setup you chose for this video. Great stuff.
I dont get how these insane drummers can play along to a song so accurately using just earbuds. You'd have to absolutely blast the volume all the way up to be able to hear the music over your drumming. I can barely do it with isolating headphones that cover my ears.
@drummermikerocks1

They use these things called in ear monitors. Look into getting some. They’ll save your hearing and you don’t have to blast your music to hear everything.
@wanjanechtangroeger

Yes, I use isolating in-ears (shure se215). And I also program a click track, so I hear the song plus metronome.

@@wanjanechtangroeger would you consider making a video on your in ear setup and how you prepare a song for a cover? Would be really dope. Starke Leistung!

I use the Samsung ear buds. Played around with the different fittings to fit my ear. I dont need the music full blast and I can still hear the kit. If I crank the volume I can drown out the drums completely.

i bet hellhammer liked how frost did the drums on this song, just minimalism and aggressiveness
Wanja how do you program your click track ? Can you make a video about it ?
Damn if that wasn't painful. Impressive as hell!

wow
This is absolutely incredible, you're a machine and I never thought a single foot could "double" bass that long. Is there a reason you're only using one kick for the song? Is that how it's played by Hellhammer or is it just a personal preference? Absolutely stunning playing, I'm a guitarist without the slightest idea of anything drumming but I do know talent. Cheers mate.

Thanks man! For this song it was actually a sort of personal challenge - before that I basically sucked at single foot blasting (compared to my other skills) so this song was kind of my motivation to practise this. I just thought it would be super cool, if I could single foot blast the whole song ;)

Actually the tempo changes all the time, Frost didn't use a metronome on this! The fastest moments it is around 250 bpm, the slowest are around 225, most of the time tempo is between 230-240.
What foot technique did you use to play this fast constantly?
@wanjanechtangroeger
3 жыл бұрын
I use heel-toe singe strokes (sometimes also referred to as constant release). I explain it in this tutorial here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/k3qDu6pyorvedKg.html And also a complete online course on this technique was just released: www.wanjanechtangroeger.com/courses/doublebass-maximum-performance
Hellhammer did that in 1992....brutal !!!

What I play along to is actually a cover of the original Mayhem song made by 1349 (drums played by Frost). This cover version is a lot faster than the original (which is still impressive).
How much faster in bpm is this than the original mayhem version?
@wanjanechtangroeger
3 жыл бұрын
Hard to tell because the tempo changes all the time (between 225-250bpm). I think the Mayhem version is more around 200, but that is just a guess ;)
min 1.22...... wow!
