Some I remember are: "Just Remember I Love You" by Firefall. This song is a ray of hope saying that things will get better from 1977. It's my go to song whenever I'm having a horrible day. Another one would be the Atlanta Rhythm Section song "So Into You." When people think about ARS, it's usually "Imaginary Lover," but this 1977 song was before that. Ironically, the song reached the same chart position (#7 ) as Imaginary Lover.

70s music has to be the most diverse sounds of any decade ever. It's definitely my favorite era.

Same her, I heard Cocaine enough in the early 80's to last several lifetimes.

Half of these continue to get significant airplay and appreciation to this day. Not forgotten at all. #s 4, 5, 6 & 7 may need reminders, though.

One performer, one message. That's all it takes!

I must be really, really old school, because a lot of these songs are on my playlists that I listen to all the time. I don't listen to the radio anymore. I make my own playlists. That way, if I want to listen to something, I listen to it. I have plenty of 1970s playlists, 1980s playlists, 1960s playlists, even 1950s playlists - my parents were born in the early 1940s (they were of the Silent Generation that preceded the Baby Boomers, and I'm Gen X) & they grew up on '50s music, so that was something we listened to when I was a kid and still enjoy, it reminds me of them. I even listen to Big Band and Swing from the 1940s. So my playlists reflect my tastes. I couldn't listen to modern radio, it's too limited in its scope.

I have the Rolling Stones 1978 viny record of "Some Girls" original issue with all of the celebrity faces shown on the inner record sleaves still sealed as you may know the cover design was challenged legally when Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett, Liza Minnelli (representing her mother Judy Garland), Raquel Welch, and the estate of Marilyn Monroe threatened to sue for the use of their likenesses without permission. Similarly, Valmor did take legal action and were given a monetary award for the use of their design. later pressing of the "Some Girls" record album only show the faces of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts,

Bardot, Liz Taylor (?) along with the girls you mentioned. Also a few guys who I don't recognise. Unfortunately, mine is unsealed but I'm happy as I got about 10 different Stones albums all from a garage sale for about $20 AU, all up. Thanks for the knowledge you gave.

Dr Hook had some catchy tunes; two that come to mind were "Sharing the Night" and "Sexy Eyes".

'Sweet nothing' has been my favourite song for 20 years

Tapestry was the first cassette I bought when I got my first car. If faded memory serves me correct I had 3 or maybe 4 cassettes all worn out from play. I think it was my first cd as well. Beautiful is how I started my mornings for many years. Slap the alarm, press Play. You didn't mention a lot of songs and people and I understand. Even a 10 seconds snippet of the quality from the late 60s until disco would take hours. Neil Diamond to Heart, Paul SImon to Elton John. Just too many out there. I could just go with songs that played at the roller rink and fill a page. Redbone, Come and Get Your Love. Eagles, Peaceful, Easy Feeling. Loving Spoonful, Do you Believe in Magic because Shaun Cassidy covered it late 70s which got it back out there. Harry Chapin, Cats in the Cradle. Yes there was roller skate dances done to all of those songs. Maybe just where I lived, but we danced. Carpenters, Jim Croce, Rod Stewart, Three Dog Night. Three Dog Night. Chicago. Chicago. Three Dog Night, Chicago because. Three Dog Night and Chicago. Steely Dan, Moody Blues, Glenn Campbell, one of the top guitarists ever. Kenny Rogers was First Edition and New Christy Minstrels before county. Just Checked in to See What Condition My Condition was in. Afternoon Delight by Starland Vocal Band. Like I said, far too many to name. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, Bad Company, Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back In Town. Bill Withers - Lean on Me. Roberta Flack - Killing Me Softly with His Song. Steppenwolf. Iron Butterfly. The Band. Too many and I am forgetting them before I can type the name out. The Doors, Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Cat Stevens - Peace Train. I haven't forgotten them all as yet. It is pretty crowded up in there so I am sure I have forgotten more than a few. I did mention Three Dog Night and Chicago though.

Wuthering Heights still gets very regular airtime for it not to be forgotten, as does Piano Man.

Wuthering Heights and Big Yellow Tax were huge in Australia and are still played on radio here today. Same with the Wings track.

Burning Love? Sorry, it's one of my favorites. I would and could not ever forget it. Sweet Nothing? Never heard of it. Weathering Heights? Again, never heard of it. Pink Moon? Never heard of it as well. I Feel the Earth Move. Meh, didn't really care for it. Cry Baby. I don't like Janis. Big Yellow Taxi. Different, but good. Live and Let Die. One of my favorite Bond movies. Song was good. Piano Man. Excellent song. Up and Around the Bend. Great song from a great group. Heart of Glass. Another great song from another great group. Ramblin' Man. Good song, not great, but good. Beast of Burden. Excellent song. I also liked Bette Midler's take on it.

I remember Pink Moon from a commercial many years later. I wouldn't have known what it was, but probably saw it mentioned in Entertainment Weekly or something. I remember Pat Benatar's version of Wuthering Heights, but didn't hear Kate's version until many years later.

I have Some Girls on a cassette and yeah, it still plays!

Burning Love was definitely a last hurrah showing what Elvis could still do.

"Burning Love" is not on Elvis' "Fool" album. Not sure where you got that from. And the CCR song is not titled "Up and Around the Bend," it's simply "Up Around the Bend." Sheesh

Never heard of Kate Bush before this year and I listened to music all the time! She was certainly not played on mainstream radio in the 70’s where I lived in California. I would have remembered such a unique voice.

More Than a Feeling by Boston, from one of the best selling debut albums of all time.

Whole bunch of songs I never heard of, and still don't like. It wasn't til we got to the Carol King song before I heard one I cared to listen to. Then, I found "Big Yellow Taxi" and "Piano Man" both listenable and familiar. All told about half of these were representative of the best the seventies had to offer in my opinion.

I would put some other rock ahead of many of these. The whole Deep Purple album is filled with classic memorable tunes. Led Zep was still memorable. Harry Nilson...

There was a lot of awesome music that came out in the 1970s. Rush should have a spot or two on any list of awesome music from the 1970s such as "2112" "Fly By Night" "Closer To The Heart" "Xanadu" "Making Memories" "Working Man" "Lessons" "Passage To Bangkok" "The Trees" & "Finding My Way" are just a few of the shorter tracks & left the longer, deep cuts off my list but there are a few of them that could make the list as well. On the "Some Girls" album I would pick "Shattered" & "Miss You" There are a few other awesome songs from the Stones during the 1970s. On the Sticky Fingers album there is "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" & "Wild Horses". For more obscure 1970s songs that rule I would add some Robin Trower into the mix, "Bridge Of Sighs" is amazing and one of many songs by various artist that made me buy a Fender Strat(American Made) & a Marshall Tube amp along with a "Roto Vibe" I already had the "Wah Wah Pedal due to being a Hendrix fanatic. More Robin Trower "Too Rolling Stoned" "Long Misty Days" & "In This Place" are just a few tracks from his awesome catalog of music. Almost anything Todd Rundgren either solo or with Utopia is excellent during the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s & on. Todd Rundgren "International Feel" from the "Wizard a True Star" album. With Utopia "Trapped" from the album "Opps, Wrong Planet" from the LP "Adventures In Utopia" "Last Of The New Wave Riders" & "You Make Me Crazy" Todd & Utopia have a very large catalog of amazing music. The Savoy Brown song "Tell Mama" and their vast catalog is worth a listen or two. There are so many more songs I could add but my time is limited lol so I will just mention a few bands/artists that deserve a mention from the 1970s, Jeff Beck, Tom Waits, Frank Zappa, Foghat, ELO, Boston, King Crimson, Tower Of Power, This list could go on for another hour so I am going to end it here. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I am so happy I got to grow up in the 1970s it was an amazing time!!

It was a UK hit. Many lists presented to us these days are based on UK charts or UK radio play.

I forgot they were so awesome that in some cases (#10 and #12) I don't remember the song at all, or how awesome it supposedly is. On the other hand, some of these I never forgot.

"Shattered" -- not "Beast of Burden" - was the final track on the Stones' "Some Girls" LP. Really interesting video, though. There were a few songs on it I didn't know about, but now have to check out! 🙂

With the exception of Pink Moon I'm familiar with all of these.

Wrong! Have never forgotten at all, I still play them.

Big Yellow Taxi is a brilliant song but at the end is the most artificial laugh I've ever heard.

Wuthering Heights by kate bush? Even my dog put her paws on her ears looking at me with pleading eyes hooman stop whatever that is! Thank God Benetar remade it and it became a great song once I understood the lyrics. I would crawl on naked glass and nails listening to a Yuko Ono lp if that would cure Bushes catterwaililing.

Kate Bush sang high notes but stayed in the high register for entire songs. A bit more of changing up the high to low notes would make her more listenable to me.

Kate Bush is a genius and Wuthering Heights is BRILLIANT.

I stopped listening to radio around 1982 so I have no idea what they're playing on "Classic Rock" radio stations. I imagine you can hear most of these tunes on classic rock radio on a regular basis along with all the other old boring classic rock music from the 70s. Besides, "I need T-Rex when I have King Gizzard?"

I can NEVER tire of ‘American Woman’, no matter how many times it’s played! A few hundred different versions, just depending on how pompous and cocky Burton Cummings was/is at show time 😁🎤🎹🎸🪈🎷🙏🏼🎵🌹🇨🇦🇺🇸

Paul McCartney plays live and let die all time at his shows and some of these songs should be forgotten 😄

Wuthering Heights --- playful??? I think it is seriously dramatic, along with being an absolute masterpiece. The first I heard of it was Pat Benatar's excellent rendition, very faithful to Kate's, but Kate's original will always define it for me.

other than Bowie, Sabbath and punk. most music from the 70s sucked . the 60s was the best.i also liked the 80s because it was a continuance of the 60s. the 90s were ok but kind of depressing and boring at times. after that most music was garbage and continued to get worse. good songs today are very hard to find. i also like 50s and 60s rockabilly and country .

Southbound is so much MORE awesome than Ramblin Man & you pick Beast of Burden out of 70s Stones?????
