For me...(for me) Leontyne Price and Joan Sutherland are the benchmark voices for the Soprano versions of this classic. Tenors are anther matter ..but to me, this is a mezzo soprano piece...and the Ms's Price and Sutherland nail it to the wall.

I watch this from time to time..her voice is extraordinary

I can't believe how this can be compared with the likes of Sissel or Charlotte Church. She eventually hit the high notes but I kept getting that nails in blackboard feeling.

I wish she sang in French which focuses on the "REDEEMER", not "holy night". She expressed the words very well with feeling, especially good ending with "PROCLAIM". The worst performance of this song was by Pavarotti with Montreal Symphony Orchestra. the conductor of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra should be ashamed of himself puutting up with cheapest singing by Pavarotti.

I wish she covered her body when she sings such a deep and holy music. I hope she understands the true meaning of Christmas and understands the original French text. it is not a cheap commercialized modern Christmas song but song of the birth of our Redeemer.

Her name is Renee Fleming & me & my Mom, Dad,& my brother were lucky to hear sing every Sunday at our church in Rochester,NY--(Salem United Church Of Christ). I can't how many years she was our church choir, but it was an honor that she was. She was attending one of better music schools in the country--Eastman School Of Music in Rochester, so she was a lot younger than. It makes me emotional when talking to her once, she said how good of a voice my Mom had also in the choir at the time. We had talked to her at the end of a church service...never forgot that!
