Ask any rapper in the 90's who came after Cube. He's in the top 5 for influence and storytelling alone. I've hear everyone from Snoop, Nas, Scarface, MC Eiht, Spice 1, C-Bo, Master P giving Cube his props. Stop reading bullshlt ass "Top Rappers of All Time" lists written by clueless magazine writers.

I think it’s cuz of his movies . They kinda overshadowed his music
His catalog is full of classic bangers
I don’t know if Cube realizes it or not but he basically wrote the plot of a kick-ass movie about American drug-trafficking in the 90’s in this song. I love the way he tells stories.

This has been a sleeper cut since day 1.....Cube has always been able to flow and tell a great story ..Frank Sinatra ain't got shit on Ice Cube!!!
The narrative in the lyrics could make for a good action-comedy starring Ice Cube.

Can't listen to this song and not think about my city. These guys (crips n bloods) litterallly came like this. A lot of people got down, some local gangs that were already here either folded or joined up. So many good ones dead, doing long bids or scared for life over streets they never heard of. If you were born after that first generation, you'd never know a time when it wasn't like that here. Lost my only son to it last year at age 18 and think about how i woulda never imagined bacc then that one day I'd lose a child to it. 30 years later and what they brought still runs street politics.

When I first moved out LA I never realized how true this song was.
“Ya gotta deal with the crips n the bloods by Hand G, plus the Black Guerrilla Family”
This dude (the greatest storyteller of all time) just took you on a journey with a tale of the spread of gangbang culture, dope, the corrupt system as well as the path from the streets to the penitentiary
Now that’s a REAL LA BEAT. At that time, & still today it will drive you crazy in a bad but good way, if you got some sense. ❤ Cube
