I just love how Hancock's reaction to being shot by a 56 caliber slug was "Dammit all!" Like that dude was pissed he got shot 😂

If I am not mistaken- and I don't believe that I am- the injury sustained by Hancock was caused not by a round striking him, but rather a round striking his saddle. The impact of the ball drove splinters and, I believe, a saddle nail, up into Hancock's body.

Yes it was and it bothered him immensely. After the war he was speaking with I believe was Grant's personal surgeon about his wound and how he still was in great pain. The surgeon had him straddle a dining room chair so that he was sitting in the saddle at the same position as the time he was shot . The doctor probed the wound and found the nail in the wound cavity
