I like the idea of using command hooks and the macrame cord cover. Large potted plants do a great job of hiding cords. Personally, I try to go cordless as much as possible and minimalism has definitely helped.

Hi Ashlynne, Thank YOU so much for making this video. Cords drive me insane, especially in my office and living room area. I love the macrame idea and will attempt to do that. I also love the cord box. That is easy and simple for me. I will look around the house to see what big decorative items I can use to hide those hideous cords.

Hi Ashlynne. Those binder clips are also great for securing open bags in your fridge or freezer. I saw my mother-in-law using plastic ones specifically for the kitchen, but then I thought: why not use what I've already got?! They work just as well as long as you fold the bag opening to the right size for clipping, and they're not affected by the freezing conditions. Perfect! I also love your macrame idea for covering cords. Have a lovely weekend. x

There are heavy duty transparent tapes that last for years. The normal cellotape/Scotch tape ages quickly and dries off. Cable ties - plastic covered wires also work particularly for looped up cords. When tying down the chords the problem is when the furniture is moved for cleaning or needing access at the back. Cables and power chords are hard enough but a lot of electronics comes with external power bricks (like laptops) and wall plug (phones, routers).

That last clip hack, rotate the metal to the outside and they hang nicely too. I have a pegboard in my utility room that’s tucked in a corner with long bent hooks for cords. I got so tired of my family’s cord mess everywhere. Especially the backup cords, etc. Each peg has a label over it (lightning, usb-a, usb-c, miniHDMI… And any that are too big to fit in those clips, zip ties x2 keeps them super secure and changeable, like thick HDMI or coax cables.

Super helpful tips. Thank you! Really like the idea of making a feature of the wire. Living with a vintage décor means the super sleek cable hides won't work - I have hidden speakers in wicker chests in the living room, hiding both speakers and wires, but allowing the sound. After viewing your video I am now wondering if some sort of vintage storage might work the power banks and plugs for the desk area. I see the hide box you used has air holes, so I assume care would be needed to select a suitable, safe storage piece. I am hopeful, from viewing your video I will find a solution. Many thanks 😊

Amazing! In the advent of electrified homes, such things as exposure of "modern marvels" like cords, appliances and even outlets were proudly displayed as a sign of affluence. Water heaters were even considered a kitchen appliance! Today our power sources are an unsightly decor mistake. I live in a 1915 house and my wall outlets are attached on the outside of the walls. And there are very few of them so extension cords are running everywhere. 😂

Love the macrame hack. I would add labels to the clips you put on the cord wraps near the end. And maybe put the clips on so the handles are above the wire so you can hang them on a hook. No more wondering what that cord is for and throwing it away only to find it's for your expensive, rechargeable camping light a week later when you're getting ready to go camping.
