    Most of the roundabouts mentioned are pretty functional. Using roundabouts is quite simple, and are more efficient then normal intersections.

    A video about roundabouts made by someone not understanding the difference between a roundabout and a traffic circle. I am sure the author hates them because he doesn't know the rules either.

    @@danielrose1392 There is nothing to understand because it's a distinction without a difference, an artifact of propaganda.

    @@goodmaro The difference is clear. In a roundabout you have to give way when entering, while a traffic circle might have any priority rules.

  • @goodmaro

    @goodmaro

    @@danielrose1392 That's not true. The default rule for traffic circles in the USA and Canada is that drivers entering the circle yield to traffic already in the circle. Although it is possible that a particular portion of a particular circle may be signed otherwise -- that happens sometimes when they're modified long after they're built, or when a town square is adapted to function as a circle, or legacy circles built at a time when few people had motor vehicles -- nobody *designed* traffic circles to function any other way. Which means that if that's a defining characteristic of roundabouts, *all* traffic circles were designed as roundabouts.

    Acts like round abouts cause more accidents. Doesn't realize overall roundabouts have shown to achieve a 37 % reduction in collisions as opposed to traffic lights. Also the Swindon round about allows you to take the shortest route possible or a different route if the current one is backed up. Once you understand that there really is just a round about with a inner reverse round about and the others are just access points to go from inner, outer, or exit.

    There’s a magic roundabout next to Terminal 4 at London Heathrow Airport and i remember going across it and saying “was that a magic roundabout like Swindon” and looked at it once i got home. Turns out it was and was very much easier than you’d expect since it was smooth and i got straight through.

    The diameter of a standardized city-approved roundabout is between 10-100 meters. The #9 spot on your list clearly breaks the official roundabout protocol and should therefore be disqualified from your list.

    The problem is that some people get nervous if there's much traffic. They can barely handle the car let alone dealing with other motorists. And roudabouts is too much for them. This category of people shouldn't be on the road in the first place.

    The Magic Roundabout is actually not that bad from what I've heard. You can actually just ignore the BIG roundabout and just treat it as 5 mini-roundabouts. Following usual rules. Although I am not sure why sometimes there 2 middle lanes feeding into these miniroundabouts. That's a bit off

    Seriously awful commentary. Do you even drive? Two lane roundabouts are pretty common and very simple... Go read the UK highway code for roundabouts and they have nice drawings for you. "It has two lanes so makes it really difficult". What a joke... in the UK three and four lane roundabouts are fairly common nowadays in cities.
