Anyone who follows his examples of how to use an angle grinder is asking to get hurt! Innate been using angle grinders for forty years in my trade as a welder and I NEVER run without a safety guard!!! Also the way he is cutting, the direction of rotation will push the grinder right into your body should the blade catch. And to prove he doesn't know what he's doing, when grinding steel you never let the sparks come at you. Always send the sparks away from you in a safe direction! Wear leather gloves, synthetic material and those cheapo gloves will not protect you against accidental contact with the abrasive. I have seen too many serious injuries and suffered a few minor ones myself. But I don't invite disaster. This should have removed!!!!!

I have a saw chain attachment for my angle grinder. I do not dare to operate it without a guard. Also, I actually stopped using the saw chain attachment because it scares me, but also the 80 grit flap wheel is very aggressive on wood, so much so that I actually use that to carve wood. Finer grit flap wheels can then be used to smooth them out, but I prefer air sander if I can as the 80 grit flap wheel has a huge tendency to gouge the work piece. Those flap wheels are more aggressive on wood than most want to admit.

Also some of the disc's he uses. The saw blade type gouging wheels are extremely dangerous. I work at an aluminum boat building company and we use gouging wheels on our grinders and air gougers. *Graphic warning* There was a new guy who took one when he wasn't supposed to, he got inside a small cubby and went to cut out a small tack. Who knows why a cutting disc wasn't good enough for him. He had glasses on but no welding hood or face shield. It kicked back and cut the side of his cheek open. You could see inside of his gums. If it went an inch lower, he would've cut his throat and bled out instantly right next to me. We had to soak up puddles of blood at the bottom of the boat and wipe meat with beard hair attached off the sides of the boat. It got flung everywhere. Absolutely disgusting. Makes me sick thinking of it to this day. If you don't act like an idiot, you'll be fine. I've used gouging wheels for 4 years now. Safety is key.

Several of these blades are way beyond dangerous and way outside of the intended purpose of a 4 inch “grinder”. I’ve been fabricating, building and repairing all sorts of things my whole life and have more tools than I can count, along with a few scars… I would never bring any of the large toothed stock removal blades shown here into my shop. I’m really surprised many of these blades exist at all with today’s lawyers eliminating most personal responsibility by blaming manufacturers for the stupidity of the end-user

At home I might leave it on depends on what I'm doing. The flap disks are great for taking off rust or removing pain really fast, if your cutting tiles the guard gets in the way cutting a circle for a toilet.

These discs rotate at 80m/s which is ~290km/h (~180mph) and only thinking of getting hit by a part of it when it snaps makes for a very gory scenario. Put the fuckin' guard on. Also I once cleaned a rusted construction with the wire brush mounted on a 1300W (but not bigger than regular 700-800W) clutchless Hitachi flex and it bounced into my chest. It grabbed me by the clothes. Thankfully it was winter and I had many clothes on me. Yet it torn through my winter jacket, two shirts and only the last of it, which was my T-shirt was kept intact. More to say... The grinder still was engaded, twisted in my clothes and I held it quite firmy for a 2 or 3 seconds. I was so shocked I didn't realise what happened and it took me these 3 seconds to actually realise to turn it off, because it wrapped me so tight I couldn't breathe. Like someone sitting on Your chest. Knowing this, for wire brushing and grab-friendly applications I only use 800W grinder with clutch. Also I heard a story, when someone was a cutting a thin wire mesh and the flex grabbed it, torn some of the wires and made itself a huge spinning wire brush... It just minced the operator's skin and flesh on his hand. Thankfully wires weren't long enoug to reach his face. Stay safe everyone.

Beside the safety issues, just don't use diamond tools on steel or iron as it would wears them faster. I.E The carbon of the diamonds will dissolve in those metals.

NOTE TO SELF: Whenever using a Grinding or Cutting Disc of ANY kind, ALWAYS have the included Guard firmly attached to the tool. The A.S.M.E. equates the explosive force of a 4.5" x 1/4" x 5/8-11 Type 27 Depressed Center Grinding Wheel spinning at 13,000 rpm to the blast of a 12ga Shotgun. I'm not Bulletproof... Are you..? How do I know these things...? 42 Years of selling Industrial Tools. Safety is YOUR responsibility....
