    no, it could've been so much better ie it seems very cramped especially since there's a separate side passage way stealing necessary space from the engine room. it would've benefitted so much having the E/room going from either side & having a central walk-way leading to the rear of the boat, that would've given much needed space to access components within the E/room. I'm also saying this as the original buyer who had a independent inspection carried out on the boat also noted access to components for routine maintenance an issue due to machinery tightly packed together. This is one of the reason's the original buyer actually begun legal proceedings with Nordhavn & yes years later its out of his hands up for sale etc.. go search utube for multiple legal recordings covering the case & you'll see yourself. overall its a nice boat but it has got some poor design floors/choices the above being one of them, then having 2 bathrooms in the master suit "wtf" anyway the engine room really needs more space for easy access... not to mention cables & pipework requires labelling (another fault found) as again knowing what each cable & pipe does on this actual boat is pretty difficult due to the lack of labels.... which is odd for Nordhavn.

  • @overtheclouds9

    @overtheclouds9

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@malp6280 The engine room is full beam on the upper level. The passageway you're referring to is port side of the aft staterooms taking you aft to the lazarrette. Also, to keep a fire boundary I also would of designed the engine room the same way. I have seen the prints for all the decks. The legal problems were the guy couldn't afford the taxes on the boat. It was seized almost immediately after delivery to the boathouse. Customs came over and he couldn't pay the import fees. The lawsuit was about trying to say he never took delivery of the boat so Nordhavn would be responsible for the taxes. That's why all the nitpicking every lil detail or flaw to say the boat was not delivered satisfactory. Everything would of gotten taken care of, it was a delivery shakedown cruise. You take delivery and make a punch list for the builder and it gets fixed after a 30 to 60 day shakedown. This is nothing new in super/mega yachts. What I don't know how the buyers math was so far off? As he received a credit for the taxes paid on his last boat he traded in. All that was due was the difference between his trade and purchase price. He knew the taxes were due. It's embarrassing in my opinion to try to blame Nordhavn when he clearly didn't have the money to buy the boat.

    Actually in that class, you really only need two guest cabins. While it seems a bit parsimonious, after a couple of days with only 120' and a crew on-board, you don't want more than 6 guests total.

    This boat is one of the finest yachts I think I've ever seen for its class, and I've seen a lot of yachts. It is stunning in every way! I've seen some that perhaps are a bit more opulent, having more bling, like being in some designer's showroom, but this boat is both beauty and function. It is unpretentious and yet so elegant. This is the boat I would want to spend serious time aboard. The overall design is, I think, brilliant! The accessibility of every part of the boat, especially by the crew, is so well thought out. And that engine room: Wow! It is an engineer's dream. Just over-the-top wonderful in every way. Thank you, Nick, for a really fun tour!

    Thumbs up. I have to say that I've watched/critiqued a lot of yacht tour videos and for a 36m yacht (120') this one punches significantly above its weight. Very well laid out, the guest cabins aren't cramped (it helps that the designer didn't feel the need to force them all amidships) and the engineering spaces are incredible. On top of that it's a true tri-deck. It's actually a bit difficult to believe that this yacht is only 120' long.

    The woodwork and cabinetry are so beautiful as is everything else. This decor is exactly the style I would just love. I’m just not interested in the yachts that are super modern but you would never know you were on a yacht. Yachts with interiors that could be identical to a Miami luxury condo just do nothing for me. I’m a big fan of Bering yachts, but I think I’m now an equally a fan of Nordhaven. This yacht is more than a person like me would know what to do with, having no yachting experience. I must say, I’m hooked on these Explorer yachts, they’re so much like tiny ships, capable of taking you right around the world and built for the open sea. So much more exciting than fancy fibreglass yachts that are more like floating party rooms that rarely go anywhere. This is an amazing yacht. The layout is so complex and very functional. The crew cabin area is far nicer than any that I’ve seen before and the engine room is one of the nicest I’ve ever seen. I need to watch this video again. 😅👍

    I have read so much about this vessel, both positive and negative, from her delivery, legal wranglings, build problems, and then to her range and excellent sea keeping performance. For me, this is a boat for the owner to say to his family and friends, "trip through the Panama canal this Summer?". A beautiful yacht, of classic Nordhavn design, excellent review Nick, may I say Top Dollar! A quick footnote. Every tour I've seen of various Nordhavns, I have commented, 'you really need to have Aquaholic to do a review of this boat', maybe it worked? Once again, great review!

    @@Paul37Ontario Only one because it was a special 'commissioned' build. First owner pulled out due to financial difficulties and a second person was found to buy it. My take on it's problems stem from the fact the new owner was trying to dodge full Canadian sales taxes on the boat through a dubious tax avoidance/minimization scheme. * "In Canada, we have what's called sales taxes…generally charged on the net of the transaction, so if you bought a $16 million boat and traded in $5.5 million boat…you would get a refund of the taxes you paid on the $16 million boat or $5.5 million boat. They net the two. In order to do that, the trade-in, which I did through PAE, it had to go from me to the Alberta Service Bureau and Alberta Service Bureau sold it to PAE, so PAE Purchased the boat from Alberta Service Bureau for $5.5 million. Then Alberta Service Bureau would purchase from PAE a $16 million boat, so Alberta Service Bureau's real cost is the 16 less the 5.5. That would be the bill of sale that Alberta Service Bureau would issue to me. I would end up paying duty and taxes on the…on the $9.5 million instead of the $16 million." * But when Canadian Customs started sniffing around as the ship was being delivered to Canada, it was found out Alberta Services Bureau was just a front and the 'real' owner's identity was discovered. The real owner was then forced to pay full taxes on the $16M purchase price. The owner was pissed off with this and blamed Nordhavn for revealing to Customs his name. And so then decided to not pay some $720,000 + final payment! Nordhavn sued for the remainder. Owner counter sued and this is where all the 'perceived deficiencies' in build quality etc all of a sudden appeared. Obviously meritless counter suit because the owner eventually lost case, Nordhavn won.

    gb nq And quite rightly so. Advise to all don’t even think about buying if you haven’t thought about the running costs. Take the price of the boat/ship and allow 20% running and staff costs at least, then there is insurance and servicing and paying for docking. All in all quite a bit but if you can comfortably afford this ship go for it nothing finer. That’s if I don’t beat you first!

    Most Nordhavn's are well built with excellent workmanship. But I wouldn't touch this boat even if I had the money to burn. When one is cruising 500 miles offshore, one must have a 'lucky' or 'blessed' boat, not one that has a long bad history.

The Nordhavn CEO’s pride in this vessel is a joy to behold. I’ve also followed the legal wrangling over this yacht since it arrived in Canadian waters which has been a fascinating read. What I can’t understand is why on earth it’s still for sale? I would have thought this would have been snapped up. It’s a fabulous Nordhavn and deserves the right owner. Seen my uncles condo and boat in this video. I miss him alot but him and my aunt are always traveling the world and i dont get to see them very often. They always ask me if i want to come live with them on their boat but ive never took them up on it but i have been on many of voyages. Just not more than 2 months. Im 26 and want to make my own way in life and i hate it when theyd give me their centurion (if you dont know what that is look it up) beacuse i felt like a charity case but an absolute king. When i was in my late teens not so much because i didnt really understand what it ment to be humble at the time. Me and my cousin would be chauffeured down Venetian to south beach see a movie at the imax and then go shopping and literally buy what ever we wanted, mostly clothes, shoes, belts. I was in Monaco with my cousin and fondly remembered my aunt telling my cousin when we came back from Zeggs after he had purchased a new sea dweller "did you get your cousin one too?" He said no of course and i remembered her calling him rude and that we need to get on the Zodiac and go back to shore and buy me one. I told her many times i didnt want or need another watch. My Casio classic did everything i needed. I grew up extremely poor and my father has actually asked her a couple times for money to pay our mortgage because we fell on hard times which im ashmed of saying. She eventually bought me a 116610lv for my past birthday and i thanked her tons but i told her the only thing i needed was money for my level l-lll crane school and she paid it outright and i remembered falling to the ground crying like a baby because i was so stressed out how i was going to be able to afford it. I have a baby on the way and only have 1200$ in my savings and an old cat eye chevy neither of which if sold would afford me my schooling. And i wouldnt dare sell the rolex she gave me, its ment to be an heirloom of course. She also bought me and my wife everything on our registries but sadly cant come to the baby shower, due to her lifelong friends wedding in Ekali. I am extremely passionate about cars tho and have a huge admiration for craftsmanship (why im watching this video) and engineering as does my cousin. My uncle has a silver on silver Phantom coupe which he never ever drives and collects dust year round and ive only seen them drive it twice my entire life which is a real shame. Once to my great grandmothers funeral and the 2nd time to Marco island to their beach house which I road along. Maybe has 3k miles on the clock. If he ever thinks of getting rid of it im going to grow a pair and ask him for it. Its a pipe dream but if it was mine i would make it my daily driver. Anyways idk where im going with this but i love them dearly and miss them alot and this video made me think of them. If i ever won the powerball i would buy this boat and name it after my aunt. I guess you can say ive laid in the lap of luxury with all the benefits and none of the downsides of working astronomically hard for it like they have.
