I have an Exotic Short Hair and the slightly damp sponge always works a treat for all soft furnishings and clothing. However, I never feel fully dressed unless I'm wearing a few cat hairs.

I use one of those cat brushes with the fine, very dense plastic tines made for taking loose hair off to do the same thing with carpeted stairs and cat trees. Works pretty well.

Thanks, Lin. Naturally, I agree. lol. A lot of people can't get their minds around the vinegar for whatever reason, but it's what I've settled on.

Great tip. Not if I could find a way to get the cat dent out f the top cushion LOL.

A rubber glove works well too! and if you have cat hair stuck on the carpet, sliding your feet sideways in a pair of trainers brings it off.

Molly, you couldn't give better info for this if you were Wikipedia! I use the vinegar/water solution on practically everything and people tell me that they would never know six cats lived in our home because there is no cat smell. And your method on the furniture works just fine on the short hair. Wonderful video for people who may be having problems with excessive cat hair. Lin

Excellent! One short hair report is in. Also, I think you are correct that the type of fabric/surface is also a determining factor. As for the fashion statement on actually WEARING cat hair ... that goes without saying. :D

Another way to get cat hair out of carpet is with a squeegee!! Like the kind you do windows with!! I picked one up at the local dollar store and it works great! It works really well on our cat tree also so I bet it would work great on your stairs!!

I'll be interested in more reports from people with short haired cats. I also think that it will depend on the fabric. I clean everything with vinegar. The vinegar odor doesn't stay but a few minutes and it neutralizes other odors nicely.

Hi! Thank u for the tips! I was just wondering if i could spray this water vinegar solution onto my bedding? I tried cleaning Bimbie's (my cat) hair off of my bed sheet with a squeegee just now and it worked fine. But i think it looks like the solution with a cloth method is much easier and faster though.

Yes, I've used spray and wipe on the bedding many times. Mostly the bedspread, but have swiped the sheets as well. Check my play list on product reviews and find the one on the "wonderbrush" (wunderbrush?) ... this works well, too and it's now what I use in addition to the cloths. I also often spray the object firsts before brushing. Good luck.

I bought a couch today from online sight and went to pick up, lord have mercy I'm not kidding u I thought the cat was attached to the back of the couch! all I saw was fur everywhere this lady kept everything clean but that couch!!!! Yea same thing happen with me feel like I been ripped off and now I got to go clean it once I move into my new apartment I should of asked if any animal hair has been on it but not gonna go through that again im gonna save and buy my funiture new.

+lizzy yates It's just half and half, but any combination will work ... or even just plain water.

Nice but I'm not a fan of using the vinegar due to smell. how much you add?

There's virtually no odor, but I mix a scent with it. 50/50 Vinegar and water in a gallon jug, to that I had 1 table spoon of Jean Nate a mild scent that I like. It just leave a pleasant scent behind without being overwhelming.

Its better than just using a lint roller

would this work with curtains (that are made out of polyester)

It might … let me know if you try. It works well with a bedspread .. also clothing. However, my sister reports that it doesn’t work with short hair cat fur. She says it just pulls all the little hairs out straight and they don’t roll up and off the object.

Not really well. I have both a cat and a dog with smooth coat/coarser hair. It works for the cat hair, but not so well with the dog hair, which sticks itself inside the furniture like needles.
