12v Bucket Dredge for gold! Will it work?

I've been wanting to build this for awhile. Very little online about it. Next move is to turn my little high banker into a mini dredge!

I built a bucket head shop vac dredge with a small gas generator. It works amazingly, so good it fills the bucket in a few minutes. Very frustrating always emptying the bucket. Amazes me how much dirt is left on the bedrock after digging the overburden. Looks like a bucket full and 20 buckets later I'm tired of emptying buckets. I need to convert it to flow directly into my sluice. Been using it since 1999. Definitely does a good cleanup. A bit cumbersome. Also works good dry for the hillsides. Can't believe how much gold is left a few hundred feet above the creek in some spots. You have a nice design but I would want the pump above the bucket, I see it being very frustrating after a few half buckets. Good luck with it. Always trying to find a faster, better, easier way to get the shiny stuff.

Will be working on a version 2.0. Tested and worked but the lid and bucket has to be stronger so it doesn’t collapse. Have a solution in the works .

I have a similar idea though using an 18 volt Ryobi pool vacuum cleaner.

why not the out flowpipe from the pump connecting to the vacuum hose with y piece of pvc with a venturi just like a normal dredge aimed to the bucket. And a discharge on the lid. Then a little bigger pump like 2000 gph two times the suction. A nice idea it is already.

My plan is to build a power log at some point and turn my little high banker into a battery operated setup. Referring just what your saying about the Y pipe

Very interesting indeed. You could even have different size hose ends for smaller cracks. It has possibilities. ✌️😎

To reduce probability for plug ups you can install larger diameter hose on the intake! 1.25 inch smooth hose inside with reduction to 1 inch. Its best to use clear transparent hoses. Also there is no need for stronger bucket. What you need is vacuum regulator. A simple spring valve on the lid to open when the vacuum inside the bucket exceeds certain level. You can attach a hose from the valve back to the water so in case of plug up it does not suck air in the system but clean water.

I built one of these with all commercial grade connections, steel can etc. Pumps out more water in 3 seconds than you can keep in the vacuum hose, and if you use larger vacuum hose you're left with nada on pressure. How did you balance out the outflow and vacuum hose sizes?

Some times you could get something to bang on the hose if you can see where CLOGGED where the clog is that's what I put on my bigger dredges.i use a screw driver saves a LOT of time and a much needed improvement.

@@robertwolfe2971 Yup, its short enough to use a rod or crevasse tool to unclog i think. The nozzle i want to make metal so it stays down. Doing a in the creek video this weekend. If it works well i will refine it with quick disconnects etc.

Be nice if you had clear HOSE so you could see where it is CLOGGED up.

  • @RemOutdoors

Since the nozzle is only 3/4 or so it classifies decent and would only clog there i think. Once i take it out i will know where to improve for sure!

I would put a bolt through end of nozzle so it won't clog inside hose.
