Acrylic Pouring Blooms Technique Inspirational Tutorial Video.
paint pouring, the painted dreamer, abstract fluid art, shelee art style, no silicone, fluid acrylics, acrylic pouring techniques, fluid art tutorials, abstract acrylic pouring Art, Pour Painting, fluid painting, house paint art, swipes, blooms
In this video I’m doing an experiment where I’m testing the Artists Loft Ready Pour Mix paints to see how well they might work for the Blooms Technique. I test them both straight from the bottle and then mixed up with a gel gloss to thicken them up along with the AUS CA and the US CA. I hope this video is helpful and inspiring for you and you enjoy watching this half as much as I enjoyed creating it! 😊 Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
A lot of what you see being created on my channel when ready will end up in my Etsy store. Some pieces if they translate well to digital will also make it to my RedBubble and Society6 shops so if you see a design you like please check out my links below.👇🏻😊💜

    After watching your testing of the ready-to-pour paint by Artist's Loft, and even though you added Golden's Heavy Gloss to the mixture to give it some body, I noticed on both the US and the Aussie Floetrol activators that there were some definite indiscrepancies. In each of the centers of your experimental blooms using the ready-to-pour paint with the heavy gloss, there is some bleeding of the activators in both the dried bloom centers. So, in my estimation, and my opinion, I might use the ready pour for kids, instead of using it for professional results. The pigment ratio is much less also. The activator doesn't hold up as crisp lines as it does when you are using your own mixed paint. Great experiment!

    You’re so welcome Patricia, thank you so much I’m really glad you liked it. It’s funny you ask, my next video where I experiment with the Arteza ready pours I do sort of a side experiment on there using the artists loft acrylic flow and floetrol (US) as my pillow and it does work however it’s not as stretchy or springy as the house paint and dries differently for me but it can work so if you want to give that a go. I used a thinner consistency but you could just add more paint to thicken it up if you need to.

    Thanks so much Bron! You may be able to use just the Valspar. I have used the other ready pours, the Arteza, similar to what you are saying. I treated it like it was just a fluid paint and added it into my PM mix and it worked great. I’ve not tried the Artists Loft ready pour that way but now I’m going to. • @ThePaintedDreamer

    @ThePaintedDreamer

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Elaine! 🤗👋🏻 so usually if I need to thin a mixed color I’ll use GAC 800. You could use the same to thin a pillow or even US floetrol or a combo of both. Thinning your actually PM base that’s not mixed with color you might want to adjust your ratios of untinted base paint to varnish. It doesn’t have to always be 3:1 .. it could be 4:1, 2:1 or even 1:1 depending on the consistency of each. Another thing to keep in mind is if your untinted base paint is on the thicker side you may want to use a thinner varnish (i.e Minwax Polycrylic is like water). If your untinted base paint is on the thinner side then you may want to try a thicker varnish with it (Minwax one coat or varathane triple thick). The jo sonja varnish is kind of in the middle and always a good choice for either thick or thin you would just adjust your ratios accordingly. Something else to keep in mind if your PM mix is on the thicker side you can still use it but it might work better with fluids, high flows and pigments. Similarly if your PM mix is on the thinner side use more tube and thicker paints with it. Another thing with your pillow if you don’t want to use additives. Some are known to be thicker or thinner so you could just switch them up accordingly (example, the Glidden premium I use satin is thinner and eggshell is thicker so I switch between the two). I’ve also heard of some mixing different pillow paints to get the consistency they want. If something is too thick they’ll add a thinner one in to balance out and vice versa. I don’t say all this to confuse you but to give you options and things to consider. Hope this helps! 💜

    Ooooh that’s a good idea Paula, give it a try I’d love to hear how it works for you adding the tube paints to thicken. I would say 85% of this technique is how you blow it out, truly. You can have the right ingredients and mix everything just so but if the CA isn’t spreading out over your other colors as you are blowing you won’t get a lot of cells. Also if you are blowing straight down and not out it will be hard to get anything going. The blowing part is almost an art form in and of itself. I used to practice on freezer paper just putting down some colors then your cell activator and blowing out to practice. Have you tried the help of a blower of some kind or have you tried swiping? Swiping tends to be easier if you are using the Australian floetrol cell activator especially as it’s super responsive. Just some ideas to help 🤗💜

  • @ThePaintedDreamer

    @ThePaintedDreamer

    Sure .. I don’t know that there is a time limit but you don’t want to just let the paint sit for too long as edges may start to dry a little if it isn’t moved around. Having said that when I blow my blooms out and then embellish, add more pillow etc. it’s probably about 5-10 minutes from when I blow it out to when I start spinning it. Now if I’m doing super modified blooms like Sharmin or Cindy Vanderveen I’ll a bit longer, maybe 15-20 min from blow out to spin out. Hope this helps give you sort of a broad range 🤗💜

    Hi Nat, it’s all about your consistencies and your execution which takes practice. It took me a good 6 months to remotely get something I wanted lol. This is definitely a challenging technique and there is a learning curve. Your environment will play a factor as well, too warm your paints will be thin, too cool your paints will be thicker. If your paints are too thin your cells won’t hold and they’ll fall apart. If your paints are too thick the cells may have trouble coming through. Play around with your consistencies and practice and more practice 😊

  • @ThePaintedDreamer

    @ThePaintedDreamer

    2 жыл бұрын

    I was using both the Aussie floetrol CA and then the US floetrol CA (they are different and respond differently) for this experiment. Aussie floetrol is the magic sauce and pretty much works with anything however the US floetrol is a bit more tricky and finicky. I have an older recipe using the US floetrol where you add the Minwax Prestain conditioner, some glue and ink to mimic the Aussie floetrol and it works pretty well. A few months back I wanted to experiment with the US floetrol again at a higher ratio to see if I could get it to work on its own with just Amsterdam paint alone and not all the other ingredients. I got it to work at a higher ratio so that’s what I meant, that I’m using the US CA the higher ratio recipe. For this one with the Amsterdam Oxide Black I used a 9:1 ratio, 9 parts US floetrol to 1 part Amsterdam paint. If you ever need the products, ratios etc I’m using in a particular video it is in still shots at the beginning and also in the description box below each video 🤗

    Ugh the dreaded bubbles, Charlotte, I feel your pain! What I do is when I get a new gallon after I’ve stirred it real well to incorporate, I’ll pour some into a smaller container (I use recycled 32oz yogurt containers with lids) and let it sit on my bench for 4 or 5 days, sometimes longer if needed, to let the bubbles escape. Also when I’m halfway through my gallon I’ll have another one from the store that I start the same process with at least stirring it to incorporate and then letting it rest until I need it. My Glidden tends to be bubbly and I’ve found this works really well to minimize most of the bubbles. One more thing, when you buy your gallon at the store don’t have them shake it in their machine they have, it will produce endless bubbles that are hard to get rid of. I had to let a gallon sit a few weeks before I could use it once as I think they had shaken it before putting it on the shelf. Also when you mix up your paints with your pouring medium the longer you can let them sit before using the better to let those bubbles escape as well. I hope this helps!! 💜💜
