Finally got to use the New RK 55 Tractor with Backhoe a little this morning. Had to make a few repairs by the pond after the recent flooding. Also used the grapple for a few minutes and it's awesome!

Looks like you are getting use of it...nice work on the refix of the water damage. Now Melissa will be able to locate you in the woods with the backup alarm....kinda jealous that you get to play with the (toys), but happy that you get to have this opportunity to work with RK and their equipment/reviews. It would be interesting to get into a agreement with a local company to do reviewing/testing of products. Have fun, but be safe!

I use a spring fork to clean up leaves, trash and grade my lane after the winter leaves ruts and holes it, I drag the bucket to level off, then the tractor, our vehicles and the UPS truck does the repacking.

It's called "muscle memory" that's what you acquire overtime with usage. The grapple....absolutely a must have implement for any land and brush clearing! I know you have the immediate problem to work out before the next deluge comes, but when your problem is resolved.... play with that grapple, you won't regret it! The cab.....ooohh yah, wearing only 'scrubs', in high winds and single digit temps, moving snow with the radio on, nice and dry and toasty! Your going to love it!! I have an L4760C and love it!

Good Morning Mike... I had a similar problem with my pond. I have a 12" overflow going out about 20' into the pond. I put a sleeve on it to have a higher level in the summer and take it off for the winter season about 6" lower. The only problem i have run into is the local Beaver gets pissed off when I drop the level & since i have not screen on the pipe he attempts to dam it up. God Bless... Chief

Great job filling in the ruts. I have the same problem so I dug out a spillway and stacked rip rap bottom and sides and it’s working great. I’m building a bridge over the spillway so I can cross with my mower and tractor. I’m using telephone poles and putting 2x8’s on top, still working on it. I like the tractor and I told you several post back you would love a grapple. Take care

Mike, a good fix to the pond is use the backhoe to dig a trench from the pond to the run off spot you choose, and run it as a straight pipe, that way you can LOOK through it and SEE where it is plugged up, it requires a little more up keep, as if you have those nasty critters around that plug up pipes, but at least you can clean it out . here in Va it is not real common to see a pipe in the middle of the pond

Very nice -- this video had the feel of a task that needed to be done combined with an opportunity to learn/play with new equipment. Which was good, since it cause me to look further at the RK55 specs, and it seems very comparable to the upper end of the Kubota Grand L series (but at a much lower price point). If there was a Rural King closer to my area selling tractors a year ago, they would definitely have been a contender when I bought my tractor last spring. However, I'm still happy with my L3560 so it's unlikely to be going anywhere soon ...especially since the nearest Rural King is more than an hour away, and my Kubota dealer is on the drive between home and work :) (if/when I need more tractor it'll probably be a jump to adding something in the Kubota M5 utility tractor size/capability range)

Hi Mike. I have a Branson 4520R with a BH86 backhoe, basically the same size as this one. One thing you will find is that until you get use to it, it will not seem as smooth as the excavator. I love my tractor and backhoe. I have been amazed with what I am able to do with mine. I am curious if ours are actually made by the same manufacturer as they look extremely similar. Looking forward to more videos.

Hi Mike, I wonder if RK has a local service center near you? I do believe that your RK 55 is actually a Mahindra 2555. I have a 2555 that I bought 3 years ago and they are identical. Except for the loader. My loader is a little heavier built. The reason I bought the Mahindra was that our local dealer sells them and provides great service on them. I love mine so far. It's great for plowing snow in the winter. I also handle large square hay bails with it (800 pounders) and it will carry 2 at a time. It handles them well. It also runs a 6 foot mower with ease. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Have fun buddy!! Your friend Al.

RK Tractor Guy :) Thanks for getting back to me.I usually handle 2 of those bails at a time and then stack 4 high in the barn. Glad to hear that you folks are close and have a full service shop. Am I right that it is actually a Mahindra tractor sold to RK? Because here in Wisconsin, Cobelos outdoors was selling Mahindra's with their name on them. They where a little creeper than the Mahindra but I don't think costumer support was very good. I don't think my dealer would be very happy too work on one of them.

Very nice. Btw. About 4 months ago right before Christmas, I’d say sometime in November CensorTube went in everyone’s account and removed, All photos that one had!!! You used to be able to load pictures just like you could videos!! And folks could go in and look over all your photos and post comments. We had well over 300 pictures!!!! Taken here on our farm and our home / boat we have down in Gulf Breeze Florida. Volumes of farming photos firewood photos fly fishing photos hunting photos etc etc. even plenty of pictures of past Christmas & Birthday pictures!!!! And they didn’t tell anyone. We found out by trying to load new pictures. Couldn’t do it. Then looooooooked around in our fully empty account!!!! God that passed the both of us off.

Not positive but my limited experience on different machines with backhoe attachments, under the floor mats, there have been a selector switch to change the operations of the controls. We always just called them Bobcat or Cat controls. No idea about your particular machine but, just a thought. 9 days to hip replacement surgery. 15 days until I'll be absolutely stir crazy. RK is coming out with a hydro for the open station RK55. Not sure why they didn't to begin with. I guess you really like the hydro vs a power shuttle that doesn't require the clutch because if you are doing close work around the house, etc seems like the hydro would be the way to go? On the other hand you have to run the hydro throttle up all the time so i guess there is a trade-off to everything.

I I like the price point of the RK37S. I bought a Massey GC1715 with a loader and mower and snowblower for $20,000 I like it but I would love more HP. a 37 HP Massey starts at 22k thats just the tractor, its $29,000 for a 1734E, bucket and 3pt finish mower. I figure a RK37S with a 72 inch pull behind mower would be $25k or less.

At least put a filter on the video to mute that dang BEEP.....I can't take it....Your in the woods what's gonna sneak up on ya a squirrel. I know it's a safety thing the Rural King probably wants you to keep, but that beeping ain't gonna work for these videos.

Fortunately that's only installed on the bigger models, my RK24 doesn't have a backup beeper! (or if it does, it's not working!)

The extra HP looks good on your property. The bucket really moves a lot of dirt. I see some great videos coming up. Wondering, does the outrigger on the right side of the backhoe normally stick out a little?

Just watched an older video of yours, Mike, about using the box scraper to clean up your trail to the pond. Can you tell me if you add gravel to the trail on a yearly basis or any for that matter?

Usually no, It would be nice but I have over 1.5 miles of trail and it would get real expensive quick trying to keep it stoned. I just try and keep the water off and touch up as necessary

I'm not sure if that reverse alarm would stay wired in, if I owned that tractor. Then again, if there are other's around, that would be different. It looks like you're going to be a 'bust boy' very soon around that pond and your land. I'd sure like to be there t work with you. I've probably said that before, but this is what I like doing around here with my tractor too on my land. It's good fun actually, changing the way's of nature. Good video, enjoyable!

Wait for pipeline to go through again and get a bigger section of pipe if you can. Some 42" or 36" would be better then what you have now

Very nice.

I'm wondering about the loss of 'feel' when working with the loader. That's a part of my experience that I like with my current open station tractor setup. How much of headache is it to change seats (inside the cab vs. outside on the backhoe)?

At some point you need to do a walk around of all features and show inside and outside of tractor. Go over what are standard options and what are add on options.

There must be a spot close by where you could dig some fill out and the just fill those ruts ? I'm only asking cause the more you disturb, the better chance of further and faster erosion ? Just asking, thanks. Also, that grapple is gonna be unbelievable for cutting wood !

Darren Lemieux, yes the Kubota tires are loaded as well but this RK 55 is just bigger, heavier, wider and feels better becaise of that. I will have an RK 37 soon which is about the same size as my Kubota so that will be a good comparison
