Right now the basking station it's going to be a concrete brick w slate rocks to climb to it🤔 under lights. The 2 holes (CBS) will be little caves as they are little. Thoughts please??✌️😎

I was looking at purchasing the same one for my red ear slider, but I have seen many bad reviews for them. Many have said that their stand is not well made and can't hold the weight of all the water. Other reviews say that the tank itself leaks. Loved to get your thoughts on whether you believe this is a good purchase or not. Thanks in advance!!!

I guess only time will tell but overall the tank is typical construction ( I am sure some faulty one's are out there and those are the one's you'll hear about). Stand is particle board which isnt the greatest but I have no reason for concern yet. Hope that helps!

  • @LongLiveYourTurtle

    @LongLiveYourTurtle

    Жыл бұрын

    Gravel vacuum is still a good option if you have some stillborn stuff. But with the turtles moving about you’ll probably be pretty clean for a while. If you start to see any buildup on the tile you can use cleaning sponge like the one you use for algae on the side of the tank without taking a single tile out! Easy maintenance!

    Filter type is super important so I’d start there. Fluval fx4 if you have the money or a sunsun704b. I also like the penn Plax turtle clean 1200… just know you need to run a filter for at least 2-4 weeks before beneficial bacteria builds up and your water should stay clear for week to months with 25% bi-weekly water changes. Good luck!

    The problem I've seen with these is that plexiglass gets micro scratches from all the turtle beatings it'll take from the shell bumping around. Small turtles, not so much, but once they get plus 8 inches, little abrasions tend to show up.

    No, you should have 10 gallons per 1 inch of shell. An adult res male can range from 7-9 inches and an adult res female can range from 12-13” so depending on the sexes of your turtles you either have the bare minimum for a single adult female turtle or you have a good sized tank for a single adult male.

They’ve never messed with a fish but recently decided they hate each other 😔 Any suggestions for turtle aggression? I now have to divide the tank leaving only the fish able to travel to both sides. the fx6 is rated for a couple hundred gallons, so you'll want to check your setup to make sure your system is actually working correctly. Checking pipes for slack, checking if valves are fully open, if intake attachment is fully submerged, proper tank flow from output, etc. Fluval has a setup video for all their canisters to double check.

  • @LongLiveYourTurtle

    @LongLiveYourTurtle

    Is this a brand new setup? You need to make sure your tank is cycled before worrying about whether the fitler is working or not. Look up aquariums and the nitrogen cycle to get a better idea. But the bio media in your filter needs mature so it can keep your water clean. Until then (a week or two) you will be doing a lot of water changes. Good luck!

    I've seen this tank at Petsmart. The volume of the tank is good but the dimensions don't work well for adult size turtles in my opinion. It is a bit too narrow for turtles to move around without feeling tight. I believe it is only 18" wide which is narrow for turtles. This tank is more suitable for fish. Overall, I like your effort. Those two canister filters seem overkill. Just the FX6 is good enough.
