I got my ears pierced the second time last week. The first time I got them done at Claire’s and they got infected. When I went into the tattoo parlor, the piercer greeted me and asked me if I wanted to wait until I got them pierced because I was a little nervous. I waited a few minutes then he called me in. He sat me down and he saw the previous holes from Claire’s. They were close up but were still visible if you looked at them close enough. He asked me if I wanted the same holes pierced. I agreed. He said Claire’s got one ear hole a little bit off center so he was gonna fix that. When I was ready, he put those thongs or something on my ears and marked the hole. He then got a fresh needle and asked if I was really ready. Then he counted from 3. He was as gentle as the guy in this video. I didn’t flinch, cry, or was in lots of pain like at Claire’s. The difference was that I was 9 when I went to Claire’s. They also don’t have the most sterile equipment and hire anyone to pierce ears. When he was done, he gave me free piercing aftercare. It was a great experience there.

You guys do realize everyone has different pain tolerance right?? People told me getting a tattoo on my wrist would hurt really bad and I could pass out, but when I got it, it didn't hurt. My grandma hasn't even gotten a tattoo cuz she's scared of the pain.

For me, getting my nose pierced on the nostril was less painful than getting my earlobes pierced. It could be different for other people, but my exact reaction was “Wait, that was it?!” But when I got my septum pierced, it did sting pretty badly.

Honestly I think it’s the best thing this parent could have done. If your child wants a piercing, most of the time they’ll find some way to get it with or without you consent. I pierced my own lips at 13. I’m 25 now and I’ve never taken them out. But do I wish my mom would have supported me? Absolutely.

I am an Indian. And in India it's normal to get pierced your nose and ears at this age or younger than 12. I got my ears pierced when I was 3 or 4 yrs old and my nose pierced at the age of 10. Because I liked the piercing of nose so got one and it didn't hurt that much 💜

The aftercare alone is a big reason. Its stupid. Stupid parenting. I have 20ish piercings and would NEVER allow this until my child is 16 at the least. Go watch Roly, he's a body piercer/enthusiast. It’s been over a year since she got it done and still has it. As most are not responsible at that age, my daughter was. She was well aware of the care and time it needed. I educated her before hand.

Honestly nose piercings don’t take that much to care for 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ when I got my nose pierced he told me to not even touch it that the soapy water when i take a shower would clean it itself, I’ve had mine for well over a year now and never had any kind of infection and Half the time I forget tht its even there.

Nurse Rachel I got mine at 12 and I’m now 28, love my mom, plus I’m more responsible, mature and happy than most of my friends my age. Great parenting is completely irrelevant to letting your kid do something to their body (when done properly and after the right education about it). Teaching your kids to (harshly) judge others though, not that great parenting. So sorry to your parents!

The one that got pierced by a professional was my industrial and it barely hurt. Btw it’s not thick layers of skin or else it wouldn’t hurt, it’s cartilage so think before you speak

@@xychelz Girl its literally not that serious, calm down. I have multiple piercings and they have all hurt really bad. Have you ever heard of hyperbole? Everyone has a different pain tolerance, having a low or medium one doesn't make you "sensitive".

When I was little my mother saw me holding up a pair of her earrings in front of the mirror and offered to take me to get my ears pierced. (She didn’t want to be crazy strict like her own mother, so went the opposite way). I wasn’t even that interested but went along. It was 1967, I was seven years old, and it was done at the doctors office with local anesthetic injections that probably hurt more than the piercing!

I hear you. My 6 yr old sister in 1970 wanted her's done, so to try to scare her out of it my mom got her big sewing needle, black thread, a potato & ice cube. My strong willed little sister took it like a trooper & they're still pierced today! She's 57.

In my culture, little babies get their ears pierced and it's no big deal. I got mine before I was one year old.

@@BambieLashay that's you and good for you. But different households/parents have different parenting styles. Most 12 year olds have no idea what they want so it's understandable when parents make them wait till they're older. Unless of course it's a part of your culture or whatever. My parents didn't let us get piercings or tattoos until my siblings and I were 18. Sounds reasonable enough.

I’m 18 I have 31 piercings did them all myself and have been doing piercings for 8 almost 9 years. That’s impressive that she did so well with it most kids I pierced were 15+ and I’ve had so many broken noses from them punching me from the pain

I let my daughter and she's 13. She's responsible and proved she could keep it clean. We sat down and discussed all the stuff she wanted and set age limits and the expectations I will have for that age. I can't fault her for wanting stuff done. I have 42 tattoos and 11 piercings. Plus at that age my mom told me no which made me want it more and I went extreme.

My mom was always open to me making a lot of decisions when I became a teen. She lived in a very strict environment and ensured I felt the freedom and safety to express my wants and needs with her bc she never had that.

I agree! I have 4 daughters and I was raised in a VERY STRICT christian home. I couldn't even paint my nails 🤦🏻‍♀️. I did so much crap bc I was always told NO. I've been super honest with my girls and want them to feel heard and valued for their opinion. I pick and choose my battles. My oldest is 13 and I told her when she is ready to get her nose done what I will expect and the same goes for anything else. When they discover your open to such things they consider it more and think it threw. I got my nose done this summer and now they she has seen that she's decided to wait for a while 😂. I don't just let my kids do whtever but I never shut their ideas or wants down and I discuss with them when I will be willing to allow that to happen. It's something I wish someone would have done for me and maybe I wouldn't have done such dumb crap I would have thought it out more. So way to go mama!!!

I got my nostril pierced at 13 and i had it until last year still (I’m 20 now). Took it off because i got a septum and I didn’t like them together but I don’t regret piercing my nostril at all, it was what got me into piercings in the first place. Some parents don’t realize that your early (and late) teenage years are meant to experiment with your self image and try to find things that you feel comfortable with. Yes, it is likely that your child is not going to keep their nose pierced forever, but is it really such a big deal when they can just take it off? It also teaches people how to be responsible and properly take care of these things, and not to be rash or impulsive. (Also fun fact, I started stretching my earlobes right after i got my nose pierced and I still have those, and they ain’t going anywhere any time soon, so there are things that you do for your self image in your teenage years that you actually keep your whole life💃)

Literally. Parents get their babies' ears pierced, but complain when a pre-teen gets the same procedure done on her nose?? Make it make sense. If the girl decides she doesn't want one anymore, she can just take it out. It'll heal eventually. Might leave a scar, but a tiny one at that.

Good for her and you mom. My mom took me at 12 to get my tounge pierced and 14 to get my nose and belly button. Of course so many judgements but all my friends were doing it behind their parents back getting infected so she wanted to make sure I did it right. I am now 40 and still have the same tounge piercing!
