    @@PhilsCampingReviews Thanks! Electricity is something I have never understood: the amps and volts and dc/ac (I do like some AC/DC turned up loud sometimes though 🤪). But the gear to run the fryer would be? I’m guessing a good inverter, a couple of lithium batteries, solar.., I also want to run a mini split for AC to cool both the camper box AND the cab, since my HJ45 never came with AC and I’d rather use the space under the hood for power steering. I’ll be using 120V. You’re set up with 220V down there, correct?

  • @PhilsCampingReviews

    @PhilsCampingReviews

    11 ай бұрын

    Yes, correct. We use 240volt here. Power steering makes it a lot easier, that's for sure. The biggest thing is having the means to get that power back into the battery as quickly as possible. A DCDC charger is critical. Especially if you plan to drive a lot. Otherwise, you might also have to look into a small generator.

    Great clip mate you have a fantastic setup the air fryer will always beat a travel buddy two Different appliances one has a heating element in the base and the other one has a fan with a heating element that circulates the air Which removes the moisture which will give you a more crispier and well cooked product it’s a bit like comparing apples and oranges not taking away from your clip which in my opinion has shown that anyone could have this set up and use a air fryer , it really is a perfect set up for a family or a solo traveller keep up the great work looking forward to the next clip and maybe a cook up of a orange Cake 🎂 🤣👍

    Good review Phil. Those sausage rolls looked delicious. Our IGA down in NSW does not have that brand of pies and sausage rolls unfortunately. I can see the benefits you are demonstrating in using the air frier due cooking time and less power usage as you are parked with access to 240v power with the inverter and cooking while stationary. I think the same could be said if you tried comparing to cook the same sausage rolls in the air frier and a non fan forced wall oven in your home. I think the beauty and convenience of the Travel Buddy is that you turn it on as soon as you start driving. You don’t actually need an inverter at all for a couple of days of camping in a simple set up. You put your food in the Travel Buddy and it cooks while you are driving. Most of the time you are going to drive 2-3 hours which is plenty of time to cook most “convenient” foods. Once we pull up to “rest” or camp, get out your gas cooker or Baby Q and cook up steak or sausages in less than 15 minutes with no power at all and you can have onion & some simple veges. OR, light a fire so you can do some Fire 2 Fork ;) action like Harry. Really like your channel mate. Keep them videos coming. I hope your email got your internet sorted so you can upload quicker. I’ve had my Cruiser for 13 years, I’m a sparky & I don’t really intend to go 240V in the vehicle. I still don’t own a travel buddy but I have been tempted to buy one for a while because it suits the driving and offroad that I occasionally do. I can see the benefit of using the air frier if you already have a lithium set up and and inverter if it’s in a pimped out Toyota Coaster, Caravan or XL camper so you can have a microwave & coffee machine for even more convenience!!

    Yes. The Travelbuddy still has its place for the reasons you’ve given. Particularly cooking a roast. In my situation it’s rare I ever drive much past midday. I like to get up early and start driving early of a morning when I’m travelling and be at camp or my destination by midday. I also have found that cooking roasts and meals similar in my travel buddy while driving appears to fog up my windscreen making it hard to see where I’m driving. It’s like a oily residue left behind on everything in the car. I didn’t like that the first time I tried cooking with my travel buddy while driving. Things like sausage rolls where not to bad. I much prefer the air fryer and cook at camp or at a rest stop if I’m still travelling.

    I found 1000w on my induction cooktop is to hot to cook most meals. 500w is ideal. My induction cooktop I can set between 500 to 1800w. 11.3 is fine. All depends on what the cut off voltage is for your battery. My Itechworld 120X lithium batter at 90 amp discharge sits on 12.7 volts. Your Victron inverter is a 2000va. Victron rate the power different to others, they use VA not watts. 2000va is 1600w. Same as my Multiplus. It’s a 2000va. Which is 1600w. Victron inverters are rated at there max VA at 25 degrees Celsius or less. Ambient temps higher than 25 Celsius the less watts they output. For example if ambient temp is 40 degrees Celsius, than your inverter continuous watts it can produce is apx 1400w. This is continuous power draw, peak for short periods is much higher.

    The travel buddy wpuld be ok using while.driving youre not sitting waiting for it. Low temp might be a downfall. Couldnt really falt an airfryer for.cooking. it is smaller but draws more power therefore need to accomodate that with larger storage and faster means of recharging

  • @PhilsCampingReviews

    @PhilsCampingReviews

    Correct David. You do need a battery setup that can handle the load for an air fryer. The air fryer is so quick, in the end it’s consumed same energy out of battery as the Travel Buddy does.
