Thank you for this simple yet very practical way of showing how to put batteries in series and parallel. I want to make 48v from 4X12v batteries and keep the same amps of 18 Amps, this has just showed me how.

THE BEST explanation I've ever seen.

One thing to point out to people is when actually hooking up for use you want to use Positive on one battery and Negative from the other. That insures a more even charge and draw.

Exactly, using the main positive on one battery and the main negative on the other is the correct way to do it. Will Prowse'e channel is amazing if you want to learn about solar power.

Very well demostration. But you just forgot to try the ampere scale for show how it keeps equal in serial conection, and it plus paralel conection.

When showing the parallel series you should have connected the negative to the voltmeter from one battery then the positive to the voltmeter from the second battery.

I’m looking for 30v dc for led fog lights. I know I can run a second battery in series but the amp draw is so low I’m interested in alternative methods. I’ve considered running the battery through 6 20650 lithium ion batteries 3 series of 2 parallel batteries. I know mixing types of batteries isn’t recommended, but what are your feelings on that approach? Any other methods you would recommend? Thanks.

Hi! I was wondering if you could help me? I'm building a boat and I want to propel it using two large electric motors. To power it I wanted to build a bank of car batteries connected to a generator (petrol/diesel). I have no idea how to connect it all together, from wiring the generator to the batteries, and then from the batteries though a speed controller to the electric motors and I'm not finding much info online that really covers this. I put two wireless motion detectors under car protecting my Cadillac converter thief's placing horn to connect to battery so when I'm not driving the horn will draw power off battery so I could plug it to electric 110 house volts. My question is thinking use a second battery to plug in horn work better than plug in 110 volts from house? what are your thoughts?

First connect the two 12v batteries in series then it will become 24v then connect remaining four batteries in parallel so that you will get 24v battery with more mah battery

Take 2 of the 6 Batteries and connect them in Series. Battery #1 connect Negative Terminal to Battery # 2 to Positive Terminal. You will have 24v.

When connecting in a series, how does it not spark when touching one battery negative to the other battery positive, like it normally would if doing so on same battery?

Because it still hasnt completed the “loop”, or circuit. Once he connected batt 1 positive to batt 2 negative, then the other two posts are the same as the two posts on a battery. If he were to connect the remaining two posts together, then it would react the same as you are asking. If that makes sense
