Simple dc motor. You don’t need gear motors for your turbine module. The gears require too much torque from external source to activate the motor.

Your question has a very broad answer. There are so many variables that can affect the life and runtime of a dc motor. You have to know the specs to know how long it will last. Generally speaking, a dc motor can last from a few seconds to thousands of hours. (All depending on the specs and specific variables)
