You can't tape a duck call to your exhaust... it'll have too much wind traveling over the reed and the pitch will be higher than you can hear. The only way this works is if you put it on the blow off valve.... which probably won't work for his engine since it's supercharged and not turbo charged.

This is where it started for me, pretty sure this is one of the first cleetus videos I watched!

This was one of the first new videos I saw on this channel. This is a perfect example of why I subbed and got hooked, no problem with a whole video that chronicles an idea failing. My Passat with the 1.8T engine had a very loud turbo whine. I had it for 3 years and never figured out what caused it. You could hear that thing coming a mile away. It sounded like a vacuum cleaner going down the street. If you was at the airport, it sounded like a jet taking off. I enjoyed that sound. My other Passat didn't have this problem. That's so boring!

You have to actually "tune" those things. There's a set bolt that you have to adjust to change the angle of them depending on the tailpipe diameter.

back in the 50's flaming exhaust and whistles were very popular. the whistles were simply a piece of metal cut to slide in a slit in the exhaust pipe. most were activated by a lever or choke knob. when the slide was closed it covered most of the exhaust and the wind that did get thru caused a whistling sound like blowing on the edge of a piece of paper. my dad bought a car cheep one time because a man did everything to it and it wouldn't run. my dad rebuilt the motor and it ran fine on the table but wouldn't run in the car. an old whistle was rusted shut and the car was choking on it's own exhaust. my dad cut the whistle off and the car ran fine.
