The 12 Steps to Stop Committing Sins: 1. Turn to Allah SWT 2. Be consistent in tadharru’ (passionate pleading to Allah SWT, and invoking Him with complete sense of need) 3. Supplicate using authentic supplications 4. Seek out the times in which dua is to be accepted 5. Keep doing istighfaar 6. Have a daily devotional (adhkar) 7. Endure with patience all the obstacles which will come when on this journey 8. Try to perfect the 5 obligatory prayers 9. Constantly seek refuge with the phrase ‘La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah’ 10. Continue not giving up in dua 11. Know victory comes with patience, and relief comes with difficulty, and with every hardship comes ease 12. Know that nobody (prophet or not) has acquired anything of goodness except with patience

My sin is my struggle with the 5 daily prayers. I hate wudu. So much so that I will delay and sometimes miss the fard prayers because I am reluctant to perform wudu. I have been praying for guidance, forgiveness, for patience and perseverance. I pray for discipline so that will make my prayers on time, I pray for love of salah so that I will enjoy it and want to do it, not see it as an obligation. But still I suffer in my prayers. I have started to feel guilty about this. I hope this is a step towards me not being so lazy with it. I’ve only been Muslim for one year. Is this like growing pains for me? Is this part of my process of becoming a better Muslim? Getting closer to Allah? Will this be my life long challenge? I want to be a sincere and genuine Muslim.
