Well, I'm just happy that I found your video, many thanks for making this. After a while working really good, I had a problem with SRAM NX Eagle 12 derailleur lousy shifting, and sure enough derailleur cage is not sitting perfectly on the derailleur body, it has some sort of play like it isn't secured properly with screw. Since I'm sorta Shimano fan I was hoping that I could put new Shimano shifter & deraillur and mix these parts with already existing SRAM crankset/ring and cassette. And then I found this, answers all my questions. Thanks again!

I'm no going to use a similar setup with the new deore shifter and derailleur. Definitely great to see all that compatability.

Can't wait to see this out on the trail more.

Finally I found video about mixing Eagle cassette on Shimano set. Thank you very very much!! I plan to install SLX 12s but my frame & freehub OLD is 135mm. Thus I will apply this mixing. Thanks again!

@@LoveMTB On the B tension, I noticed that the line they give you is setup for a 51 tooth.. SRAM is a 50 tooth.. any readjustments?

Glad to see they are cross compatible. Funny I asked my LBS I was told no. I wanted to do the free coaster hack. My xd cassette is one piece so its not easily doable. Getting a shimano hub wheel would solve this, but I have the xd 11 speed. Your video is not on this but it tells me enough that its gonna work.

High end Shimano stuff just lasts and lasts. Ive got 1st &2nd generation XTR that still works fine after many years of hard use. I do regularly maintain my stuff! Nothing will last forever, but my Dura Ace 7400 still functions perfectly in my old Ron Cooper frame. Sram however doesnt last as long and is mire expensive than Shimano when it comes time to replace commonly worn parts. Sram works ok and its just a little different tuning wise.

Interesting video, looking to learn about ShimSram cross compatibility. I wasn't aware you could run a Shimano shifter with a Sram derailleur. Good to know. One thing I have yet to see is how the chain and sprocket run when you run the chain backwards. No one seems to do it in their videos. It is always a good test of chain line and chain compatibility. Keep up your good work

Thanks for sharing a nice video as always! I'm using XTR cassette CS-M9100-12(10-51) with XTR 9100 shifter and chain. Unlike the Eagle cassette, no "out-of-sync" issue on the big cogs(45T and 51T). Of course, it's not an "issue" actually, you know. The "issue" has never occurred under loading.

Back pedalling on the 51T is not bad. The best record so far is 10 round, the worst is 3. It's almost the same as X01 Eagle(chain and cassette) on my bike.

Swapped out an untunable new SX rear shifter for an XT M8100 today and the skipping and mis-shifts have all gone. The SX had so much play in its pivots. Thanks for the guidance on how to do this swap.

Would be nice if you could run one gear at a time for a couple of crank turns to actually hear if this sounds nice too. Aslo, would be nice to hear how it does on the trail. Oh and what kind of chain do you run?

Great video! SRAM Eagle for me if only for the cage lock..... Shimano SLX 7000 brakes all day though.

@@jolopoli-y7e works perfectly. There were no issues with shifting. Now I use microshift friction shifters for less maintenance and have upgraded to the xx1 10-50 gold for longer drivetrain life.

I just installed new XTR shifting my 21 trek rail 9.8 BUT I may want to switch to the sram AXS eagle with the XTR 10-51t just to remove ALL cables except 4piston brake lines

Good Comparison i Run 9 speed shimano xt cassette , with Sram xo and x9 shifter with kmc chain on my 2009 rocky mountain vertex 70 rsl carbon 26er. works amazing . what chainring is that on the Norco ? and how many teeth ?

You can get an xtr 12 upgrade group from bike-discount for about $600. That's chain, cassette, derailleur, shifter. That's about $120 less than similar X01 groupset and about $180 more than GX groupset. If you look at it that way, XTR 12 is a really good deal. The only additional costs are as you mentioned the microspline freehub or XD driver if you're coming from a 11 speed group.

I just made a combo similar to this on my bike. Gx eagle cassette with slx m7100 derailleur with xt m8100 shifter. I ended up using a kmc X12 chain because it is gold. Shifts good so far but it will drop the chain after 1 full back rotation. I will wait for the components to wear into each other before I make final judgement.

Great tires by the way. Is the XTR 12 speed system an improvement over XT 11 speed for racing? When racing, does the 12 speed XTR give an advantage? I'm keen to have some feedback on this point before making a purchasing decision.

The industry is trying to make us buy their product only but the truth is that most of the newer stuff is cross compatible. It's the same for most of the brake items, chains, cassettes, spokes, chainrings and more.

Im using Deore M6100 shifter, rd, and crankset together with SRAM Eagle 11-50t cassette and chain. Ride is super solid. No complains from me.

I wonder would the shimano shifter work on an nx eagle setup? Nice to replace parts as they break and just broke my crappy nx shifter!

It will be better if you stay at least for a couple of seconds on each rear cog to make us sure it works Without any noise at all. Good work and Thanks!)

@@LoveMTB Thank you again. I have the derailleur and shifter expected by 2/22. As soon as I have them mounted I will be gleefully testing. I will update your thread with the results. I have never had SRAM before, the GX came with the bike, I just don't think it matches the quality of the XTR parts I am accustomed. But I haven't tested the XX1/XO1 to be fair.

I have the m8000 with a sunrace cassette and it changes just fine. Are there noticeable speed and smoother changes going to xtr and moteso xtr with 12 spd?

Should i use an sram chain or shimano chain or an kmc chain, using an slx m7100 rd and shifter to eagle cassete

Xtr mech is a thing of beauty, I think it looks so much nicer than Sram.

I have in my bike 1x11 system, shifter XTR 11s and 11s cassete. I just broke my rear derailleur. Can i change it by for this new 12 rear derailleur (others componentes wont be changed)?

I know it's an older video but I'll ask anyways, can I run an XT/SLX Cassette and Chain alongside with X01 derailleur and be able to benefit from Hyperglide? I currently run a mix of GX and X01 and I'm pretty interested on the Hyperglide technology due to the fact that I have to shift a lot under load. I have a sram sx cassette slx derailleur and desire shifter and when I set it up no matter how much I change the barrels it shifts like garbage and some gears are completely slipped PLEASE HELP

It's hard to tell just from a video but shifting on the Eagle looked smoother and sounded quieter. Another thing to think about is that both derailleurs will shift a little differently under load.

Hi, I've been running this exact same setup on my Specialized Epic (Sram gx chain and casette + XTR 9100 RD and shifter). Has been properly adjusted both limit screws, B-tension screw and the derailleur hanger is aligned (have checked that with park tool alignment tool). Still I have some clicking noise on the smallest gears specially on the 10 tooth when back-pedaling. Should I expect some improvements by using a Shimano chain with an Sram quick link? As people claim that it is narrower? Have you heard about similar issues?

Since 12 speed Shimano and sram use the same 1:1 ratio in their shifters, so they are fully compatible

Hi there. I am using almost the same configuration. Difference is that my cassette is the NX 11-50 because my free hub is Shimano. I am strugling to adjust it. Issue is that chain does not drop from 1st cog to 2nd cog. I need to drop to 3rd cog then go back up to the 2nd. Would you have the chance to test that configuration? Can NX be not compatible as GX, X01 and XX1 Eagle cassettes?

Conversely, can I use Shimano xtr12 sprockets on the slam xx1 drivetrain? Does the shifting work perfectly without any trouble? Should the chain use Shimano 12?
