Oh Ny word, I think you’ve been following me my entire life. You seriously calling me out on this video. I agree with so much you have presented here in this short video. I wish I knew these things when I was young, it might would have saved my marriage, or convinced me to see we were totally incompatible. I resented my ex so much, and I never wanted to rock the boat and if I tried he would belittle me and try to make me see myself as uneducated, unlike him. I just wish I stood my ground in the beginning. Also everything else was spot on in my life. As I’ve gotten older I have realized my part in so many failures, not just the marriage, child rearing, jobs, real estate, anxiety, depression, other health issues, found out later in life, procrastination, you name it, I have plenty of room to grow. The difference now is I realize I am the problem or the solution, but fear wins out majority of the time. Now that I am approaching 50 soon, I look back and realize most things did not turn out as bad as I thought or expected, it was my imagination and fear holding me back, it’s actually pretty debilitating at times. I wish I had started these good habits sooner, and applied them to my child’s life. Now I am trying to change the way I look at like and hopefully end up having some retirement money in the bank. I did the Dave Ramsey thing, but honestly I should have bought back then and not listened to him. My bro said he was wrong on that as well, I just didn’t grasp the loan prices and such back them and how that wasn’t as debt. Ofc my ex husband never paid the mortgage or any bill on time, and my name was still on the deed so no house for me, even when I was ready. Thanks for this video!

So sorry for loss of your brother😢. I lost my brother to suicide in 2019. One of the hardest things ever but so thankful God got me through it. Still hard and I so would love for our siblings to have had another chance at life. I remember my brothers words to me a few weeks before that he wanted me to keep speaking up & being an awesome encourager 😭😭. Kinda weird bc I feel like I failed him but I think he was thinking through what he was about to do and wanted to encourage me. Not an easy road but I know we have the opportunity to live our life to the fullest and as Gabe said don’t waste the years being afraid of what we could’ve done.

I'm a woman in my 40s and I'm so glad I read this book. The rules are plain common sense but not all of us absorbed these things when we were in our 20s. Then again my 20-30s self would have mightily resisted. I also really like all the references to evolutionary psychology, Archetypes, Religion and Mythology, Feminine and Masculine throughout the book. It might turn some people off but as a Tarot reader and spiritual witchy sort, those subjects really vibe for me. Might be a bit "out there" for some though.

Transphobia has been the big one, but it goes back to him just being very closed minded and using his reach to promote some very negative views that people often classify as intolerant or unfounded. He's also spoke about women wearing makeup is a sign of sexual promiscuity, how women and men can't/shouldn't be allowed to work together, entirely misrepresenting political bills to try to get things blocked he doesn't like. It's all a matter of opinion so do your own research but be warned. He's a smooth talker, but if you really break down what he's saying it's not pretty.

Awesome to see someone not afraid to read a great book by a great author, despite the media trying to paint him as a Nazi. Good on you for not bending to what’s woke!

I watched JP in a couple of Videos but he always appeared very unhappy and harsh at times, so it was hard for me to take advice from someone who seems to lack enjoyment in his life.

I said above in a comment, that I was tempted to unfollow Gabe because of the promotion of the book (not that there aren't some good points in the book - but because of what JP is doing now in this world is very dangerous.) (still undecided on the unfollow thing, because Gabe's content is great)

He promotes some extremely narrow minded view points on what he seems to think of as people being too politicaly correct. Transphobic, misogynistic, take your pick. Everyone is entitled to thier opinions, but he honestly scares me. I'm in the same boat on the unfollow. Seeing a creator I respect promote someone like this even with the call out to be open minded left a really bad taste in my mouth. I cannot in good conscience support someone as closed minded as Jordan Peterson. And someone who does really makes me second guess my opinion of them.

@@AudioPlaysGames I understand some of where you're coming from. I have listened to a decent number of interviews and podcasts with Jordan Peterson and the majority of what he says/promotes I agree with. In terms of misogyny, I believe that he promotes most of his points through studies or reports on actual statistics. I can understand if you don't prefer his portrayal or his message but I do think that he usually gives good points and good advice. Maybe this reply will help you to delve deeper into it. Either way, it's only our opinions 🙃. Have a good one

The entirety of every comment is what’s wrong with this country. You’re blinded by the woke agenda and the narrative that has ransacked our lives we once knew. There’s a reason why Peterson is so very popular; there’s a reason why Peterson gets under your skin … because you are making excuses for your own actions and outcomes, not living outside of the matrix that you have chosen to stay within.

Oof careful Gabe, you're wandering into strange territory when you cover stuff like this. The book is fine, but his latest actions and the people that gravitate to him are worrisome. Maybe was time to unsub anyways, always found it weird you talk about minimalism but are clearly obsessed with maximizing your income.

Minimalism isn't about having little money, though. If anything, it's the opposite since you're saving a lot of money in the process of getting rid of things you don't need and avoiding buying new things.

Disagree. I think he wanted to show the merits of a book without the pretext of the author BUT I'll agree that it *can* be a slippery slope normalizing the author and inadvertently pushing people into JP's and having them fall into his more radical views. I get it and I love the general gist of the book but can't find myself reading it because I can't really excuse the author. Anyway, I'm still subbed UNLESS I saw otherwise with future videos.

I'm a woman, left leaning and DEFINITELY not heterosexual. :) Nothing in the book offended me and I respect the author on the topic of self-help, because that's his area of expertise. On other topics, such as history, etc, he's an interested non-expert, just like me.

You talk about cutting ties with friends that make the world a worse place, but promote a man who tells people to kill themselves? Not sure this was the wisest book to point people towards. You have some really great points in here just wrapped in some poor packaging. I will try to keep and open mind here but this video really worries me. I'm surprised to hear you talk about being open minded while promoting such a closed minded person. It's good to at least listen to different opinions but there is a line between listening and promoting to thousands of viewers.
