How did you get a real video from a teacher training course? Are all the videos available someplace? Most of the videos I have found are just a few minutes long, not complete lectures. The world needs all those thousands of complete lectures!

this was done 1975 after I graduated. The student Newspaper was named One Speaks. So what maharishi is clairvoyant and telepathic and uses me etc. with nothing given to me. quite the opposite!!!

@@sattwa2 Oh wow ! What a long strange trip it's been. It's been 45 years, Several life times ago ;) . I'm doing pretty good , better than i expected for my age considering I drove truck all over the states and and Canada with intermittent travels around the globe.I'm retired now and nestled in the woods on the Columbia river on the Washington side about 85 miles from Portland, 30 miles from Astoria.I'm Basicly living the life of a Sannyasi now, doing my meditation a couple few times a day , studying , reading, researching and assimilating. Nice to see you are still around. Where are you now?

@@alankuntz6494 Indeed, lifetimes within lifetimes! My wife and I moved to Mexico last year. Like you, we’re in Vanaprastha-Not quite Sannyas-but obviously heading there. Shiva🙏 It’s wonderful just hanging out at this stage. I’ve had other teachers and practices-as far as meditation goes-I still practice TM and it’s a joy. This was Maharishi’s gift to the world. I assume you got your siddhis. I practiced the whole routine for several years, but eventually let the siddhis program go. Let’s face it, we were basically just kids with a lot of life ahead of us. But the time with Maharishi was priceless and laid the groundwork for everything else. This talk on KZread is fantastic-Maharishi at his best. Big blessings to you my friend. Thank you for reaching out. What a hoot! I haven’t seen Charlie for years. What a character. We had a lot of fun. Those Courses were powerful. It’s rather obvious at this point that every life unfolds as it must-no matter what we think about it. It goes the way it has to, with all the pleasures and pains and apparent fuck ups. Ha-Take care Alan.

I went to George's house in 1994 for him to receive a TM advanced technique. He was very grateful to have met Maharishi and learned TM. Please don't spread unsubstantiated gossip.

Assuming the second section to be a repetition of the first ('cos I couldn't be bothered to listen 'til the end): sounds like he is trying to make sense of a philosophy which is itself nonsensical.....If you have realized something (in exactly the same way as you would realize anything else) (and there are no 'steps to that realization' (or, if there are, neither you, nor anyone else would know what those steps were in advance)): - if that is a big deal to you, it will no doubt bring about changes in your life.....But not Absolutely. So there is no 'fourth state of consciousness'. The latter concept is manufactured by the 'Holy Business' to justify its existence....The moment mankind divests itself of such a concept: it will raise its stature by a head, I opine.

Tim, I read and re-read your post and it's still not clear to me how you came to some of the conclusions you came to. From my own experience of TM, I can say I disagree with everything you propose as fact. I have no desire to debate you but I am curious as to why you clicked on the video in the first place.

I used to do T.M. and, on balance, am very glad to know it. But there is no such thing as a 'meditative state'. There is only waking (which includes dreaming, and (maybe) deep sleep.....'Realization' (if any such thing there be) is the realization of something about the nature of life, which realization, strictly speaking, doesn't require any particular 'state of mind'..... And it doesn't bring about another 'state of consciousness' any more than, say, finding your car keys. Although it might bring about a state of relief; particularly if you were urgently looking for it, or them!....All IMHO. :)

Tim, Perhaps it would be good to practice some more. To make the claim that the fourth state of consciousness does not exist when tens of thousands of mystics from hundreds of different traditions in many parts of the world (most of whom have no "Holy Business" associations) have described it as a distinct experience, seems a rather bold claim to make!

The 'opinion' of the 'majority' 'is generally incorrect. Even when it's unanimous..... You're just repeating paternalistic crap in an attempt to appear knowledgeable. Talking to the wrong person,I'm afraid.....The unknown cannot be known. That is: it cannot be made an object of experience.So I'm afraid 'they' are wrong. Back to the drawing-board for you. And them! (BTW So-called Mystic srarely even agree with each other...).

@@tim13354 This current reply for his thread from three years ago shows so clearly the way that we hold onto ignorance for dear life, disputing every argument with empty statements, in this case such as that mystics rarely agree with each other. While such a statement is trivially true (humans speak spontaneously and differently, unlike computers), it is basically false (almost all self-realized people describe the same subjective state of fulfillment). I would not wish to engage in an argument with tim13354 because I would never win. He would always reply with the last word, even if it made absolutely no logical sense, just to satisfy his own ego in believing that he is right in defending ignorance. But the wonderful thing about the states of consciousness that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi described is that anyone can verify at least the first one (the fourth state of the physiology and of consciousness) for themselves, in just a few minutes. This is why one poster here suggested that tim needed more experience in meditation. In my case, not only do I have my own experience of 50 years of regular meditation to point to, but the experiences of my 3000 meditation clients as well. This is a mammoth amount of experience, and it all confirms (as if subjective confirmation was needed when hundreds of published scientific papers exist) that there does exist a meditation state in which the mind is alert but the body is in a deep state of rest, as indicated by slowed breathing and other physiological markers. Furthermore, in transcending this deep state of rest is alternated with the purification of the nervous system, as evidenced by the experience of thoughts and other side effects of stress release. So, the experience of millions of practitioners reflects this state of alternation of deep rest and the activity of the release of stress. When enough stress has been released, the mind becomes fully functional, and the higher states of consciousness that Maharishi described can happen spontaneously. So, this is the important point: that the 4th state of consciousness is real, is achievable, is easy, and improves every aspect of life. As a separate issue, the organization that teaches TM is well-meaning, but does have flaws, as most human institutions do. I don't object to criticisms made about the TM organization. It does do some stupid things (mostly in the name of purity of the teaching), and tends to shoot itself in the foot. But Maharishi's knowledge is exactly what the world needs to counter its spiritual ignorance and the resulting problems in the practical sphere of life: unhappiness, distractability, failed searching for solutions, selfishness, addictions, justifications for ignorance, greed, conflict, and war.

Listening to this guy is like listening to a Dylan song. So many people act like he is saying something intelligent because they don't want to admit "they don't understand ". But, like Dylan's work,, there are plenty of people who know there is nothing there and aren't afraid to call it. This guy has a gift for taking 25 minutes to say nothing. "You are the self". Really? I didn't need to sit on a mountain contemplating my belly button to figure that one out.
