0:03 The HoverPen: A sleek writing pen trapped against gravity- at an elegant angle- by a magnetic field via precision engineered placement of neodymium magnets in the base. Get this 2D magnetic trap from @thehoverpen on KickStarter now.
0:39 Vsauce Mirror Anamorphosis: the warped printed image is restored only with a mirror in the form of cylinder- when placed carefully in the center of the image, Kevin, Michael, and Jake appear in their true form.
1:25 Mirror Anamorphosis: this vintage card from 1984 contains a cylindrical mirror anamorphic image. Lady Liberty is revealed by bending the flexible Mylar mirror in to a half cylinder. The math describing this mapping is quite complex and was given in detail in a physics journal in 2000.
2:01 Fog Globe: an ideal souvenir for a San Francisco winter- snow is very rare (1976 recoded one inch downtown) but prolonged fog marks the winter season. The “fog” in this globe consists of small glitter particles of uniform density that can be agitated into temporary suspension and then allowed to settle on the bottom giving the impression of dissipating fog.
2:44 Novatrope: this electro-kinetic sculpture uses strobing LEDs to animate a fractal inspired spiral geometry- similar to a 3D zoetrope. Each Novatrope comes with multiple 3D printed translucent sculptures, each based on phyllotactic spirals such as the well known Fibonacci curve, each producing its own interesting shape and perceived motion- as seen in this compilation.
3:35 Equilibrium Puzzle Mobile: delicate balance and correct assemble sequence is the key. My favorite puzzles are the ones that involve physics in the solution.
3:55 Equilateral Triangular Kaleidoscope: three mirrors arranged in a 60-60-60 degree triangle creates the appearance of a plane filled with triangles (or equivalently a honeycomb lattice)- perhaps the most common mirror configuration design, this inexpensive kaleidoscope produces an excellent example of the reflection pattern. As a bonus the exterior tube on this scope incorporates a kinetic Moirè pattern.
4:41 Polarized Light Cell Kaleidoscope: the amazing colors you see from the object cell of this 3 mirror kaleidoscope are generated by manipulating the polarization of light- the object in the clear wand is a strip of clear cellophane in oil which has the property of optical rotation. This property allows for an incredible range of color formation when placed between two linear polarization filters. A creation of kaleidoscope artist Ron Kuhns.
5:59 Tensegrity Table: A wonderful three string version of the suspension equilibrium table. The LUNA tensegrity stand is 3D printed and then painted by hand, with designer Anthony Yap incorporating a celestial moon phase motif to nice effect, and clear nylon fishing line for an almost invisible means of support.
6:30 Tapered Mirrors Kaleidoscope: the design of this teleidoscope uses three mirrors to create an image of a geodesic sphere. A blue laser pointer reveals some of the complexity of the repeated reflections. Three mirrors in an equilateral triangle configuration will produce a plane of tiled triangles, but if they are tapered the repeated reflections curve to infinity creating the sphere.

Physics is all about just one thing. "What you see, is not always what you think you see". Life is so wonderful & beautiful.
This video was great! My favorite was the table supported by suspension. Almost like the three strings were holding it up! As for the puzzle at the end, I think it has to do with symmetry. The word “tomato” had reflexive symmetry on a vertical axis, whereas the word “green” does not. In a way, it’s like the word tomato was its own palindrome in a vertical sense. The color of the two words was pointless.

yes the color was a red-herring (intended) but the ‘case’/font of the lettering wasn’t“, as in, you say TOMATO, I say tomato.
Tomato has symmetrical letters. Nice job making me comment to improve the algorithm for your channel.
9:36 Who the hell was that who wrote Binod 😂😂😂😂 And his comment also got selected
TOMATO is also flipped, nice one...

Stupid People , The actual reason for this is that tomatoes have all letters symmetrical in them , so after flipping their configuration do not change .

@@alexiossurya3868 you know technically you both can be right because tomato, DID also flip but, because they are laterally symmetrical, blah blah blah you get what I'm saying. His explanation is correct but understanding his explanation requires coming to the conclusion you came to.
Shining a laser into a kaleidoscope... Now there's a good idea! lol but what a great vid, love the music and gadgets, its so chilled. keep it coming.
The explanation is “other”. ie: the word “TOMATO” is laterally symmetrical !

not the word but it's letters. Must be aligned vertically, otherwise you get OTAMOT
Tomato is vertically Symmetrical while the GREEN is not
re: GREEN TOMATO puzzle. I remember, years ago, being shown the same trick with a mirror, the clear plastic wrap and the phrase CHOICE QUALITY on the side of a pack of Camel cigarettes! only CHOICE is symmetrical along the horizontal axis :-)
The soundtrack was the best part!
I think that TOMATO is actually flipped as well however it is symmetrical when in all caps and vertical so you cant tell
You had me at "physics".... What a great channel --yes, the wonders of science are fascinating!
This brother has a house full of sciencetific toys!! Nice video brother.😀
I love these toys! For the puzzle though, all of the letters in TOMATO are symmetrical along the vertical axis, so, the flipping goes unnoticed.
Amazing. Memories from Brazil.
The Novatrope is so cool!
Very strengthful work in this vedio thanks for rembember old memory
The laser part in the Tapered Mirrors Kaleidoscope looks better than the Kaleidoscope itself
This video make me relax thanks
Super amazing. Pleasing presentation 👍 Great Falls, Montana, USA
When the word TOMATO is written vertically, every single letter is symmetrical to the vertical axis. The word GREEN doesn't have this feature. That is why it is flipped when shown behind two linearly placed pieces of glass
Very nice bro

Excellent working on the project
I had one of those pens growinig up like 30 years ago... don't know about "next level" but they are neat
Tomato is also flipped, it does not seem that way because both sides of each letter are parallel, meaning if you fold the word Tomato it would be one perfect half of itself.

The word tomato, with the letters arranged vertically, looks normal as a mirror image because all of the letters are symmetrical.

8:46 The word tomato has even letters because if you split tomato in half and compare the two they will look identical but flipped around so the word tomato is is uneffected

Yes! The trick here is that the letters in the word TOMATO are symmetric with respect to a vertical line through their center, so even though they are flipped by the cylindrical lens just like the letters in GREEN, the symmetry of the letters hides this fact.
Love this site
Nice toys
Green v tomato is easy, tomato letters are symmetrical
He must be popular among his friends for his stuff
Flip of tomato is same 🤗
Thanks
T O M and A can be flipped without a problem. They do not have a left and right while G R E and N has a distinct right and left side.

Glad you liked it Science is the knowledge of consequences, and dependence of one fact upon another.
Tomato is a reflective word, if you fold it each side meets exactly. The letters you can do this with in upper case are WTYUIOAHXVM
Heya nice vdo...
The answer to the problem at the end is that Tomato can be flipped, if it is stacked on top vertically, but still say Tomato. Meanwhile, Green is seen flipped
I’d like to a Novatrope wherever they’re sold. I’ve checked Amazon and couldn’t find it unless it’s under another name.
That kalaidoscope is giving LSD vibes
Tomato is also flipped out because letters used in tomato will not change after getting inversed
as for the quiz, it's not even a trick with physics, it's with letters. The letters in TOMATO are all symmetrical, and none of the ones in GREEN are.
Super
The letters in TOMATO are symmetrical while the letters in GREEN are not symmetrical therefore the word TOMATO vertically looks unaffected when the letters are turned around.
I gotta say, that's a pretty weak puzzle at the end. Awesome video tho. 😉
I like the idea of fooling people by comparing the mirror image of a an asymetricly lettered word with a symetricaly lettered one. Psych!
Cool
The answer to the question is actually the word is flipped but as the mirror images are same so it seems like the word is unflipped
The "Green" and "Tomato" "trick" is because all the letters in tomato are symmetrical. They ARE flipped but do not appear to be.

Tomato after being flipped is same but green after flipping is not same tomato is symmetrical. Nice one to confuse anybody .love from India .
Tomato is the same when it’s flipped around
The letters in tomato are symmetrical where as they are not in green....so even though you can't tell, they both flip

In in word green is non symmetrical but on the other hand the alphabets in the word tomato is symmetrical so that's why tomato has no change in lens
