NO, I am not enjoying Cities Skylines 2. I am one of the many who are experiencing technical problems with this unfinished game. personally, I am having trouble with the textures, they get low res and blurry at street level zoom. makes the game too ugly to play. SUCH A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! But hey, at least I'm not having really low frame rates like most others are having. This is a failed release. Your positivity is not reflective of the reality. many are upset, just look at the Steam reviews.

Maybe a guide on transport system? should be interesting! As far as the game goes I do like it there is lots of improvements, but also lots of downgrades I've noticed, like for example there is a lot less attention to detail don't you think? In the first game when a fire truck pulls up to a house fire you actually see fireman come out and put out the fire with a hose, here a fire truck just stops in front of the building and fire goes away after a while. Same thing with other things like people on the streets, I don't see anyone walking around or playing in the parks or biking on paths I make etc... Feels like the first game had more life to it, you used to be able to see more workers doing stuff as well. And yeah optimization is terrible, my RTX 2070 is bit old at this point sure but it can still run almost any game on med to high settings. Didn't expect a city builder to be so laggy even on low to medium settings.

@@peterbelanger4094 come on its not that bad. Set your graphics to low and back up again and that'll fix the blurry textures. Yes look at steam reviews and they are getting more and more positive every day. Most people are actually positive as the issues are easily fixable and they've already made a good few patches since release

Well yes it runs good now but it has become a nice spaceheater pushed it from 1900 to 2100mhz clockspeed keeping it just over 90C it is fine nice hot air i can turn my normal heater off now. 🤣

You can still connect a transformer to step up from low voltage to sell excess wind turbine power.

Tip 13 (should be after 2 in the video) Check the direction of the wind blowing! You do not want the houses to be underneath the smoke from the powerplant or industries! Tip 14: Roadside maintance, tram and busdepot, postoffices and so on does not to be in the main centre of town. Get them outside but not near the industrial zones. The space does buildings need can be much better used in city centres to make money. Tip 15: Commerical can be under houses (mixed zoning) So costumers live above shops. The commercial will complain about "not enough costumers" so be wise to plop them not that much early on.

I noticed a very cheeky way to increase your income. Water is really cheap for citizens in this game, so I dropped the service fee to zero, it gave my citizens +5 happiness. Then, I increased electricity service fee until I got -5 happiness and money started flowing like crazy. Works best with geothermal power plant

OMG! Thank you for these tips!! Not even done with the video and already my jaw has dropped with these tips because they literally solved my concerns, like the overlay for placing zones, it was so dang annoying not being able to see where I was placing them! Also the suggestion for the map! Edit: OMG AGAIN!!! The elevation tip and the R setting! Seriously you got my sub for all of this! Not even done with the video still!

PgUp & PgDn to change elevation in the middle of building a road. Worked in CS1 too.

"higher the taxes" I to have brain farts. sometimes. Another game to add to my list of "I'll get around to it when i 'finish' Satisfactory/Starfield/Destiny"

Loving the game but at the minute my city looks so basic (too much use of the block road tool thing!), love the look of yours. Will get around to making things look pretty eventually, cheers for the tips!

I'm also a block road tool enthusiast, I highly recommend playing about with differing elevations as it makes a huge difference to the overall aesthetic

I built a gas power plant and selling power back to the grid covers the upkeep, my city power usage and it makes a bit of money.

Yes you can export using wind turbines. Just need a transformer

Enjoying it so far, with little performance issues fortunately, nothing that makes it unplayable in my opinion. One thing that frustrates me is how buildings completely level the terrain they're on and form these ugly hard edges in the terrain. Especially with residential it bothers me, because it's not very realistic that gardens don't just conform to terrain. I would love to be able to build on a slope without turning it into a staircase... I'd love to see if you have any tips about how to avoid or camouflage this effect.

I just ignore it is low density and give them medium density housing - I now treat the bar as a want but the general need is housing.

People keep saying its crashing, out her running it 24/7 on a laptop without issues on high 🤦‍♂️

Im getting a lot of dirty houses an i have plenty of stuff around this one im confused on.Lot of ways city skylines was a better start this is just a mess, im still having fun. Lot of bugs like farming an other areas

I have gotten positive cash but that doesn't say anything. I have seen up to -9k and I still made 1$ every second at speed 3. I am selling lot's of energy but somehow or something isn't shown as income.

lol same, well I did briefly get positive cash flow after enabling side road parking fees haha, but then it dropped after awhile. And most of my cash flow seems to come from selling electricity. The rest not so much, even though I got a tone of industry.

Won’t be playing till it’s optimised. Probably when they release on console. Got it through game pass, so have tried it. Average of 18fps on medium settings. I have a ryzen 7 3950x and 2080 super. Get around 100fps in most games. I got around 35fps on low settings, but game looks awful like that.

if you still have game pass try this: > Use "Fullscreen Windowed" or disable VSync > Disable "Depth of Field Mode" > Reduce "Volumetrics Quality" to Low > Disable "Global Illumination" > Reduce the "Level of Detail" to Low (or Medium if you don't need the extra FPS) > Disable "Motion Blur" (This is a preference, if you want it, keep it on Low) > In the advanced tab, scroll to the Shadows section and disable "Terrain Casts Shadows" > If you want to squeeze a bit more performance, Disable "Fog Quality", though I personally prefer to keep it enabled" I also enabled TAA instead of SMAA and disabled SSAO and set shadows to medium.

What are your specs? Have a 9 Year old CPU and a 6 year old gpu. Medium settings 60 fps no problemo

​@@fenrisredacted2870disable tilt shift and motion blur, depth of field and dynamic resolutions. That fixed 95% of issues for me the rest I just tweaked the quality settings between high and med til everything looked good

I know you brush on performance but if I'd known it was as bad as it actually is I'd not have bought it right now, I follow a few creators who've posted about Skylines and done videos and it's never brought up and frankly, I lose faith even in creators who post about the game now, given the absolutely appalling state it's in. It means some contract somewhere has "don't mention performance" in it.

I mentioned it in yesterdays video and in my review of the game too. Trust me, the state of the game is much better than it was when I first had access to it, Colossal are putting in the work to improve it, and I'm sure given a month or two it'll run well!

@@TotalXclipse I hope so. As I said I remember you mentioning it. Just shocking how bad it is something must be deeply wrong for an empty map to have such atrocious performance. It doesn't differ zoomed in or all the way out which suggests to me it might be rendering everything all at once. Was looking forward to it and hopefully it gets cleared up properly soon.

Really?, I have a 3060ti, r7 5800x and 32gb ram and I get a steady 50 ish fps med/high settings
