12 Most Amazing Ships In The World

Subscribe ► goo.gl/WPKt5w
We all think we know what a ship looks like. If it’s an old ship it probably has a sail, and if it’s a newer ship it will run on an engine, and it will have a space in the middle for cabins and crewmembers. That’s right 90% of the time, but not every time. For centuries - and even today - people have played around with the idea of what a ship should look and feel like. That’s resulted in some unconventional designs - and as a result, some of the most amazing ships in the world!

4:04 Interesting take on the PGS Ramform Seismic vessel - the data it gathers does help more drilling accurate drilling (which is good) but it also encourages more drilling (which is less so). The effect on marine life (notably whales) of the air-guns they use to create the source noise for the streamers is also a cause for concern.

They contract people/company from the designated country. To listen for whales 24/7, and lookout for wildlife during light hours. Those people usually take their job seriously, and love all living things.

When whales are detected, seismic operation is put on hold. The Streamers are deep and km's long. Nothing is perfect, but the ships efficiency is great.. if it wasnt for these ships, more would be needed to do the research.

Interesting video, and definitely entertaining, but there's just one major issue I spotted. Regarding the question at 1:49 the answer is simple: pressure. While marine life is designed to equalize internal pressure with the local water pressure, their evolution has selected for better hydrodynamic features. However humans need very special equipment to achieve the same thing (ie scuba gear), and can't do it for extended periods of time. So we instead build vessels to take a more human friendly environment with us. However this puts the vessel under enormous amounts of pressure. The strongest hull shape for a submarine would be a sphere, but this is both inconvenient and not very hydrodynamic (even for our purposes). The best compromise 99% of the time is usually some rough variation of a long cylinder with round ends. However the worst shape would be one with a lot of sharp/abrupt bends in the surface and tight corner geometries, like that of the average fish shape (or marine mammal). These geometries cause huge increases in material stress in those areas, reducing the maximum capable depth of the vehicle. As well they are not very space efficient. A cylindrical submarine of equal internal volume to the one shown could easily fit a third person. Not comfortably of course, but when you're climbing into a metal tube to submerge yourself under crushing pressure, you may be a little past worrying about that. 2)

It is actually a non-space-ship, although it is science fiction and from a movie. It's one of the higher budget doomsday movies although I can't remember the name of it or much of the action, except some classic Hollywood moral dilemma dramas, and that they are built in the Himalayas (yup..) to be released when some tide hits. I know it doesn't make much sense but I don't think the movie did either, like most of mainstream movies. I think it was based shamelessly on Noah's Ark. So no new concept. Cool ships though! At least they had some good computer designers/architects/whatever you call it

It’s called twelve most amazing ships of the world? It should be. Called some pretty cool watercraft that exist and some that don’t. Why put in some that are not real? Might as well put in the Millennium Falcon.

All that tech plus thousands of years of sailing/shipping and they still cant cure sea sickness... (seasickness makes you wish for death) until they do I remain unimpressed with all advances in this video.
