If you are new to embroidery here are 12 fundamental stitches I think you need to know! Practice these stitches on a spare bit of fabric until you are familiar with them as you will use them again and again in your embroidery projects! Great for beginners and those who want to brush up on their stitch knowledge.

    Macine thread is usually just finer but you can hand stitch with it. check out my sampling video!

    Thank you so much for the recap Sarah. It always helps to revisit something you might not have visited for a period of time and just want a reminder. Your in-depth stitch tutorial videos are brilliant. Miss Pinky wasn't feeling too photogenic today, too hot maybe, but that tail is something to behold, just like the lady herself. Sarah, have you ever considered hosting/running a RSN satellite school? The Certificate and Diploma both come to mind.

    Very informative as usual :) One comment on your buttonhole stitch though. It is not the same as "otherwise spacer blanket stitch ". Buttonhole has a knot instead of an loose loop as blanket stitch does.

    Amazing video - you have inspired me and my wife to start embroidery last year. Thank you very much! I have a question - the stem stitch and the outline stitch are the same apart from being an mirror image of each other. Is there a reason why they have different names?

    That's brilliant Romanator X! See my video on stem and outline stitch for more details but the former looks better if you are working curves in a clockwise direction, the later anti-clockwise hence the need for different names !
