If you look at the constrictions high flyers are made around steel shot smaller pellets will perform one to one and a half chokes down full will perform like a mod with small lead. Good video it gets the point across.

Anything over 30 yards def needs a full choke! Good vid!

I like the effort! I appreciate you putting in the leg work to see results. One point. Really should have shot hunting loads, cause now we are still left guessing. Also I really doubt the length of the shotgun barrel makes a difference, I seem to remember a test showing it didnt. Nice to see a new quality channel

Raven Starver thanks for the comment. And you’re right I plan to do another video soon. I’m going to compare the different barrel lengths with two identical shotguns. I can tell you from hunting experience I’ve noticed a difference in the 24” barrel and the 28” mossbergs I have. Definitely doing another one soon with steel shot loads. Thanks again for the comment! Rembember that kicks are labeled for the pattern you get with steel loads. Example, the mod is more of a improved cylinder in size and the extra full is a improved modified.

SCOTT Allen never shot bismuth. But I’d bet if it holds any kind of pattern with a stick choke or any other, it’ll pattern great with the kicks.

Hello. I know this video is a little old, but I'm trying to do some research and maybe you can help since you've has some experience with the Kicks High Flyer choke. I don't hunt, but shoot Sporting Clays. I primarily shoot 2-3/4" shells of #8 out of a Remington V3 28" Semi Auto. I'm on the fence on whether to get this Kicks High Flyer ported choke (FULL constriction) or a Star Dot - also extended/ported (which used to be manufactured by Colonial Arms and seems to be the "Holy Grail" for a Moss 835 - they were inexpensive chokes sold by retailers like Walmart, but since have sold as high as $140 in secondary markets). Do you think Kicks High Flyer (Full) would be good for sporting clays? Thanks.

I think it’s an awesome choice. I’ve never used a better choke than these kicks. Yes, I understand it’s all opinion and shooting style, but I love it.

They are for steel specifically, there rating on the tube itself, mod or full of Xfull is how it will pattern with STEEL, lead will pattern one size more open, chuck Boswell will tell you that, you can go hear it on any interview he's done, or call and talk to his son Jake who runs kicks now and he'll tell you the same thing, they'll shoot it all now don't get me wrong but there labeled for steel, now there smoke series and possibly the card shooter series are labeled for lead, I'm positive the smoke/ titanium smoke are labeled for lead, card shooter may be to

jorge santa ana thanks for watching, bro! On the 24” barrel I have, I’d use the Xfull. On the 28” barrel (same mossberg 835) is use a full! I love these chokes and have been religious to them for years now.

Thanks for the quick response i have a daiwa 500 12 gauge . Its a brownie A5 clone made by singer nikko. I shot trap and skeet with my buddy's. I destroyed them and they have badass rifles. Just trying to get my mossberg on that level. 💪

I’ve heard of people using buckshot through them, I wouldn’t personally do it. Just get a stock full.

From a uniform perspective that 30 yard pattern from the extra full choke is terrible. There was enough gap in the centre section to only ensure a one pellet hit on the bird. Totally unacceptable.

Mike Greenawalt those were just some cheap 3” lead shot. I did redo the tests with steel shot and very similar result. The results were so similar in fact I didn’t even post the video, because it was identical. Estate 3” lead shot for the test in the video and Estate 3” number 3 for the test with steel. I also patterned it with Super X two days ago with the same outcome. Thanks for watching!

Mike Greenawalt man I think it would do great. I’ve been using these chokes for years. I actually counted after this video and I think I’ve been using them around 10 years. I’ve never been disappointed in the results. I would definitely suggest them. And all I shoot are mossberg, so I love the combination.

Mike Greenawalt I noticed that myself actually! I use the same chokes for everything. Just switch between modified, full and Xfull depending on what I’m hunting and which gun (24 or 28” barrel). Glad to help man. If you have any other questions just ask.
