How can I capture great shots of food in a cafe or restaurant without making it look staged? I want to keep it low-key and not create a big scene, almost like any customer with a regular camera. Any tips on getting nice shots without overdoing it and still keeping a natural feel? I currently have 2 mirrorless the Canon EOS R and R7 I do have the 100mm macro but for restaurant taking photo as customer often with 100mm it is pretty tight what lens would you suggest, I have 18-35mm f1.8 sigma for apsc lens, 24-70mm f2.8 sigma full frame or Canon EF 16-35 f4 L USM, or RF 50mm f1.8

Good question! I think a 35mm (on a full frame) is a good focal length to capture more journalistic shots of restaurants and ambience scenes. Finding images online or social media that can act as inspiration is always a fun exercise. Then analysing them for what they are doing that draws you in, breaking it down to what composition techniques they are using to make it look natural.
