When Fonda told J Cobb “you’re alone”, It also meant that he’s alone in his personal life too. When Cobb finally says “not guilty”, he also accepts that his son was not guilty for leaving him. Great writing and directing!!

The movie is about confronting prejudices, individual social moral and human. We are all prejudiced in one way or the other. We are all victims of our culture.

Finally we are finding some quality video essay channels available on the Indian KZread platform. Surprisingly on a video with 1.2 k likes there are mere 5 dislikes which actually is a testimony to the great creative content!!! Kudos the creator!
Its probably my favourite "technique" in filmmaking, or rather favourite way to make a film. shooting only at a few or one location is such a good way to show change in character, relationship and story and you can play with so many things. you can make it more objective( like looking through a window) or more subjective ( making us part of the story, characters looking at us or speaking to us in a way), or you can switch between the two. you can choose different lensing, change architecture, change objects in the room, colours, doors, windows, clothing, lighting, camera angles, movement.. dont matter if its intuition or great planning, if the director knows what hes doing it can turn out to be something special , like 12 angry men, in the mood for love, some of ozus movies

12 angry men was remade in hindi as ek ruka hua faisla. If we see the differences between both and how one affects us more than the other we can understand how important it is to create an experience with proper lensing.
I've started looking at movies differently because of your videos! And must say, I've had a lot of enriching experiences. I've gone from being a passive watcher to an active participant. Thanks a lot man!
It's amazing how art not only caters to the conscious mind but to the subconscious as well.
Vinit Masram , thank you so much for the video essays , you are a great narrator , and thought me a lot about films , and filmmaking. You all my wishes with you. And to add even the movies I watch and in the way I watch has changed dramatically . All thanks to you. Hope you do great work further .
This film is such a masterpiece and I really regret not watching it earlier in my life when I had the chance.
I think u read the book making movies by siney lumet, he mentioned this in his book
@SauvikBiswas

He has mentioned the book in the description.
Likes - 576 and Dislikes - 0 It says everything about the quality of the video.
I think the point is to make the audience 'Experience' the situation while making them 'Participate' in the story too along with the characters. Only then can a viewer connect his/her sub-conscious and conscious mind and have a personal idea about what it is.
Finally you have come up with a new video, thanks!
And the best part is, it is so subtle that we as audience do not even realise how we are sucked into the story. We began as a side-lined audience member but by the end of the movie, we are both tensed and relieved.
Glad you used a shot of Denis Villeneuve when talking about directors and their importance. I believe, in my humble opinion, he is one of the best in the business at the moment. He has had some brilliant movies, but the one which made me sweat in an air conditioned cinema was while watching Sicario. The shoot-out at the border, the aerial shot in night-vision, the shower scene, the list can go on... Or take the movie, Blade Runner 2049 or Arrival. He is too damn good! Love your channel, please keep making more intelligent videos!
You are a genius. It takes me sometime to understand your video in one go, I have to watch it atleast thrice to understand the crux of it, that too when I am a self proclaimed film fanatic. I am sure I have a long way to go in understanding different aspects of filmmaking. Keep making such enlightening videos at your own pace. Every video is a treat to watch.
Your voice is so soothing
Wow ,thanks for doing this.. I recommend 12 angry Men in your last video.
Thank you so much for this video! It's astonishing what excellent, excellent use of cinematography is employed in a film released around 60 years ago!

Thanks for the great essay Vinit. Glad I got to hear this breakdown. It' s made me put into perspective a lot of my creative choices on set as of today.
Always was a fan of the writing of this film. It immediately became one of my all time favorites but never noticed the layered cinematographical elements of the film. Thank you, Vineet, for making this.
I thank myself for stumbling upon your channel! Appreciate your work Vinit!!

Great channel! Very helpful insights! Thank you :)
Great video, so many things i never noticed. This movie is genius!!
This is remarkably succinct and easy to understand. What is easily analyzed from the outside may not always be coming from an analytical place. Combine feeling with skill. If you can’t act from both places, act from the one you do and let it inform the other.
Another great and informative essay. I learn so much from your videos.

Another masterstroke, thanks Mr. Meshram, would love to watch a video on Satyajit Ray's work.
Vineet "Sir", as I'd like to call you, I would like to thank you for changing my perspective towards cinema as a medium of expressing art and feelings. Indeed, first-time watching for a film has to deal with commercialism. But what makes a film great is its detailed personal analysis over the years establishing a legacy. Your videos have given me experience as a self-acclaimed cinema student. Currently, I might not be able to venture into cinema as I aspire to. It's my dream. But it's sadly suppressed by the rat race I am participating in currently much like other Indian students. I hope after I complete this patch of life, I will enter the cinema at a mature age and with experience gained through your videos and many others like them, I will be able to enhance the art itself fo the purpose of exploring the artistic world and spiritual life rather than just for money.

Sawan Rouge you’d be surprised but knowledge and education ain’t enough. You have to have that innate connection and observation to be able to do this. Not to mention a ton of hard work. Can’t imagine how many hours or research, filming editing this all takes. Anyway it’s almost 1 am here- I should hit the sack. 🙋🏻♀️
Interesting observation!

any tumbbad movie video ?
No matter how many less subscribers you have I m one of them and I am proud of that. Youre fucking genius man
You mentioned on a previous video that the subscriber rate is very slow on this channel. I know for a reason why. The uploads on this channel are once a month or so. Try uploading twice a week or at least once a week and you'll see a titanic difference in the no. of subscribers. I know videos of such high quality and editing take lots of time, and you have other things to do, but at least try to upload videos more frequently. Maybe you could review a movie every week. That will increase some interest in your work. BTW, great video!!!

I disagree. I think his channel needs a boost or blow up somehow. I mean people should share this with their friends, family or whatever. Uploading videos every week or every 2 weeks is not exactly the solution. For example, take BB Ki Vines. (not comparing it to this outstanding channel) The guy uploads videos every month or after 2 months sometimes. Just my opinion.
Too good man..too good.
Bravo ... love it
Awesome analysis. Are there any books from which, one can get such information?
I loved the movie and this review too ♥️♥️
Great job
Sir I think such great camera work in limited area or location and yet very effectively by asgar farhadi in The separation...Or the sales man What's your opinion ?? Any video on that ??
Wow... well done
Black and white films really were shot differently. I wonder how much of the lighting inconsistencies could one pull off had the film been in color. Obviously, the video is about lensing, but I've always been curious about how black and white cinematography is fundamentally different from color.
Interesting it was!
Act 1 - 18mm - 28mm Act 2 - 50mm - 70mm Act 3 - 100mm
One my the most favourite films....
I request you to do similar analyses of Mani Kaul's cinema as a whole.. It will be very enlightening.. No analysis or explanation of his work has been satisfcatory as a film- specific head start.. Even his own interviews available are very generic.. But this kind of an approach is needed to completely appreciate his works I feel, they are so different even by standards of 1970s 80s parallel cinema.... Your take will be interesting to see

Hey man can you analyse ocean’s 12. There are a lot cinematic zooms, pauses etc. There are a lot differences in oceans 11 and this one.

Nice one.....
Vinit, I reccommend you see gurvinder singh's films. 1. Anhey ghorhey da daan (Hotstar) 2. Chauthi koot (netflix) not only these two are visually stunning and masterful in storytelling but are internationally acclaimed and higly respected.
One of the finest film ever made, can you make "something" for the movie "village Rockstar" too (?)
Like before watching!
Hey Vinit. You speak a lot about the cinematography. About why a shot was taken in a particular way, and what effect it generated, and how it contributed towards the quality of the movie. But a couple of years ago, I saw a movie "Love Sex aur Dhokha" which was made completely with the help of handycams, cctv and hidden cameras. But still somehow it managed to be an excellent movie. But as my knowledge on film isn't as good as you, I could not understand what was the thing besides the strong script that made it so awesome. So please make a video essay analysing the movie if you ever get time.
@abhishek_beniwal
5 жыл бұрын
In my view, cinematography needs to match the script. These same techniques which made 12 angry men a great experience would be useless say in Love sex aur Dhokha as the script is different, what the director wants to convey is different and thus use of different techniques of cinematography. As far as the use of handycams, cctv and hidden cameras goes, they perfectly show what the script is trying to convey. Using those instead of traditional cameras creates the sense that you are watching it unfolding live, without editing or something.
Great movie
