It's absurd to me that you pay a company $2,500-$3,000 for a bike and then are expected to pay $39 a month ($468 a year) just to ride it with the features that caused you to buy it in the first place.. I definitely understand the correlation to gym memberships, but you are not getting access to a full gym, amenities, staff, and facilities.. The overhead is far less than operating a gym and the outreach is exceptionally larger.. Must be making a killing... Thankfully, my apartment complex has 2 peloton bikes with the All Access Membership feature. Since no one ever uses the gym, it's basically become my own personal peloton. I'll definitely continue using the most out of it, but wow.. I suppose for $1 it works for some people, but for others maybe not. If the bike cost less and had a membership, that's one thing... but when you spend almost $3,000 on a bike and are expected to shell out almost $500 a year to ride it? That's wild.

I'm with you on this. Without that feature its just another bike - that feature is what sold it ... so why do they not 'have to' tell ppl that feature is not included with the bike for free - it's an additional $39 a month.

I agree I pay 35 a month for my gym membership. And includes spin class. It should only be about 5 dollars a month

I'm currently using my Peloton without any paid service and my stats aren't even saved on the app. I feel this is unacceptable and plain greedy considering the price of the bike.

This was a very helpful video illustrating the differences between Peloton and Peloton digital. And now that Peloton has dropped scenic rides from the digital app, that further differentiates the products.

what has a higher resistance at the max: echelon or Schwinn? which is a smoother ride. I have an apple watch already which is why I feel echelon is better because I care more about like resistance and cadence than calories and heartrate etc.

Hi Great video!!! I am on my way to 'maybe' purchase a peloton. I do have a question that will help me to decide. Weither I am or not subscribed to the Peloton Membership. Can I do a spin session without their classes and log the stats in my profile? Having this answer will very help me to decide :) Very liked how you covered the Membership vs the Digital App.

Can you use the peloton all access membership on your iPad?

With the better all inclusive app Can one person use the bike (me)and another person (my wife) use the same all inclusive app in another room to do the other workouts like yoga or hit Ect ? Thanks

Does the Keiser M-series app give the "missing" statistics on the Peloton Digital app that you don't get from the Peloton All-Access Membership app?

$44 a month is ridiculous! I don’t understand why .. I love the bike , I ve been using it in the apartment complex I live. I ll move soon to my new build house and NOPE I won’t purchase the bike because with that money I can get a gym membership and have access to weights and a pool and a sauna and classes! Ridiculous

SoI do have one question that you did not touch on, so if you pay the $39 for the all access app, will it permit you to connect smart bikes like the Schwinn, Echelon or Costco Proform bike and still give you all the metrics, some the metrics, such as the cadence the you heard will be taken away from the digital only app? Or are those features reserved strictly for Peloton bikes?

Basically, no. You are required to get the all access for Peloton bikes and then you get all metrics and leaderboard etc. You can still use the app on another non-peloton bike however, you will not get the leaderboard. You also will not get cadence or resistance etc since that is a feature of the bike and not something the app can interact with in general, however some bikes such as the schwinn ic4 can display cadence and heart rate onto a tablet via the peloton app regardless of membership level. Hope this helps.

Can you still do cadence from the schwinn ic4 to the Peleton app? Just got it last night and can't get it to work. I use my Garmin vivoactive and the hr monitor that comes with the bike and I can't get the bike to link to the app for cadence to appear on the screen

That's pretty cool, all the metics it shows on the peloton. my echelon was just delivered can't wait to set it up this week! Does peloton have a referral where u can benefit from it?

Thanks! Get to building :D the Echelon is an easy assembly! Peloton has some sort of referral program, but it's only if you refer a Bike sale and you can only refer like 12 per year, unfortunately our referral code is already maxed out for this year but starting in january we can refer 12 more I believe, which gets you $100 off accessories if i remember correctly. Nothing for the digital app or anything else unfortunately.. thanks for asking though!

What tablet were you using in this video

I have a fitbit sense and a wahoo tickr heart rate monitor, woukd either of those connect to the Peliton digital app? I'm thinking of joining but stats really motivate me so to be able to see my heart rate during a ride would be great

The Wahoo Tickr HR Monitor is perfect! I use this and it is probably the most accurate HR monitor I've found. I definitely enjoy monitoring my HR zone and staying above the 95% threshold. I haven't tried to connect my fitbit, but I assume that would work. The HR monitor on the fitbit is nowhere near as accurate though. My Wahoo shows my HR at 191 and my Fitbit says 140. Huge difference.

So overall, what do you recommend echelon or peloton? What has been better about the peloton?

how are you guys using the app at once?? i thought its one at a time? also, with the app can you see on the screen what the cadence and resistance ranges should be?

They each have separate logins.

I use Peloton digital and I love it. I have access to all of Pelotons classes and I can still use other platforms like Soul Cycle and Cycle Bar. I'm saving money on the monthly fee. However, I did purchase a commerical grade bike that cost more than the bike+.

the heart-cast app for Apple Watch is awesome for heart rate!

If you have a hearbeat and cadence sensor it will store that, but no more info since its all it can get

As of a few months ago, I was just using the app, and you could still cast your cadence it (with Wahoo sensors).

I know you asked the question months ago, but I’ve had the regular Peloton Bike (not the Bike+) for a year. One of the shortcomings is that it doesn’t automatically work with the Apple Watch for heart rate stats on the screen; you have to use an app that’s frankly kind of flakey. I use a heart rate armband that connects to the Peloton via Bluetooth & it does show the heart rate stats on the screen, just like the Apple Watch does on the Bike+.

Since no reviewers are hitting nail on its head, i will. Peloton forces you to use the 40 a month subscription. You really don't have a choice. If you don't, the giant monitor you dished the money out for is USELESS!!!! Who would want to pay 2000 for a bike and have it's giant monitor be blank???? That subscription will be 50 next year, then 60, and so on....

@@glamoc0000 I completely disagree lol, I’ve had mine for a year now and thinks it’s completely worth it . You’re getting an amazing bike and If I were do spin everyday at the gym everyday I’d easily spend over 40 on membership /gas etc . It’s also extremely flexible to your schedule, I do classes at 1 in the morning if I have a lot of work to do . But I guess ppl are just diff😂

I just ordered the Bowflex C6 (same as the Schwinn). I think the metrics are cool and all, bit I like the cost savings and the flexibility of the Bowflex to use other apps. At the end of the day, the metrics aren't really necessary.

I'm getting ready to order the Echelon EX5 and I'll just use my 60" TV on the wall as my ride screen. I'll just go with either Peloton digital or Zwift. Or maybe both.

The Schwinn IC4 has a usb charging port on the side of the display. So, you can charge your device while using the app.

What tablet are you using with the Schwinn?

I don't have any IOS devices only Android. It has always passed me off that Cadence is not supported on Android devices & only only IOS. Which is crazy since Peloton hardware is built on Android fork! So I thought it interesting that you said they were going to remove cadence from ios apps? What is your source on this? If that is the case then I guess we will now never see it on Android if they are now also going to remove from IOS aps

You can’t use it ON the bike but you can have it streaming to a different device (tv, tablet etc.) and r spin on the Peleton. You will not have the benefit of the Peloton features. It will just operate as a “regular” not connected spin bike. Currently you can do that with any other bike so need to pay extra for a P in that case.

So the bike that's using the app is it a Peloton bike?

Is that Peleton's secret for success? Provide a digital app to pay for all those expensive trainers. Then remove Cadence, remove scenic rides etc . Unlike most app developers,...they continually remove features ?

for the cheaper subscription, do the world scenic rides show up on the peloton screen? thats all we care about lol

It may have been the delta cleats? The bike plus doesn't make any clicking noises, one of our Walmart bikes did make a clicking noise in the past however

What is the experience like if you use the 12.99 digital app but put the ipad on the peloton bike? I ordered a peloton but I’m wondering if paying the higher amount for the app is worth it (only one user in household).

I have the same question. Peloton says they offer 3 classes and free rides w/out the all access. So we will be trying using the digital app on an iPad with classes, and use the Free Ride on the main Peloton monitor to see the metrics. I discussed this with Peloton on a chat, and free rides will continue to show the metrics on their monitor. You’ll have to use two displays, iPad and Peloton bike monitor, but save $27/mo. I have not tried this yet, but our all access will be paused in 2 days and we’ll start a 12.99 digital and hope from there it will all work as the Peloton chat operator stated..

Yes that's right- they don't give you a break if you get two for your family. I guess because there would be no way to prove that you were using them in the same household.
