116 BHTUAN NATIONAL DAY -

On this day, 17 December, Bhutan celebrates being fortunate and unique in ways of having real happiness and it's causes, one reason being the existence of our compassionate and selfless monarchs. It's a country where all the auspiciousness gather, from mother-like care from the king to sibling like empathy and loyalty among its people to every possible virtue one can imagine. I hope you enjoy the video.
Bhutan, often referred to as the "Land of the Thunder Dragon," is a captivating kingdom nestled within the eastern Himalayas. Here's a description that captures the essence of Bhutan:
Bhutan, a jewel cradled in the lap of the Himalayas, invites travelers into a realm of enchantment and serenity. This mountainous kingdom, bordered by India to the south and China to the north, is a testament to a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, where Gross National Happiness takes precedence over mere economic metrics.
The dramatic landscapes of Bhutan paint a breathtaking panorama: towering snow-capped peaks, emerald-green valleys dotted with prayer flags, and ancient monasteries perched on precipitous cliffs. The Paro Valley, with its terraced fields and the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery (Taktsang), epitomizes the spiritual and natural splendor of the region.
In Bhutan, Buddhism is not just a religion; it's a way of life. Monasteries and dzongs, like the Punakha Dzong and the cliffside retreat of Cheri Monastery, resonate with the chants of monks and the fragrant aroma of incense. Bhutan's cultural heritage is vividly expressed through colorful festivals, where masked dancers and traditional music weave stories of mythology and history.
The capital city, Thimphu, though embracing modernity, maintains a unique charm with its bustling markets, vibrant traditional arts scene, and the stunning Tashichho Dzong. Bhutan's commitment to environmental conservation is evident in its pristine national parks, such as Jigme Dorji and Wangchuck Centennial, providing sanctuaries for rare flora and fauna.
Bhutanese architecture, characterized by intricately painted woodwork and white-washed walls, adds to the kingdom's aesthetic allure. The warmth of the Bhutanese people, known for their hospitality and reverence for nature, creates an atmosphere of genuine connection.
Traveling through Bhutan is not just a physical journey; it's a spiritual odyssey. The kingdom's policy of high-value, low-impact tourism ensures an intimate and immersive experience. Whether trekking through the Himalayan foothills or attending a traditional tshechu, every moment in Bhutan is an invitation to explore the intersection of the sacred and the sublime.
Bhutan, with its commitment to cultural preservation, environmental sustainability, and the pursuit of happiness, stands as a timeless sanctuary where the mystical meets the mindful, inviting all who venture into its embrace to discover a kingdom like no other.
