Two things about this type of iridescence. One, it sinks. So t's best as a thin top coat or put it down first. And two, I made the same mistake you did at first. I color matched the sparkles to coordinate with my color choice. But what that does is take away that color from the result. Red on red, blue on blue, etc.cancels the corresponding glitter. Put the one with blue on a green resin. Put the red on a golden yellow, do a contrasting color like purple resin with the gold. That's why the black looked so amazing- it showed all the colors.I actually learned this doing nail polish art for my daughter, lol. It translated well for my artwork. Happy pouring I LOVE your channel, and the molds are very pretty.

I would keep going, paint on the Dragonfly glaze on top, I love my Dragonfly glaze. I paint it over the color shift paint, awsome effects. A little extra drying time is advised between coats. Love your butterfly. Love your impulsive changes. Presentation is so great, you have it down pat. Thank you!

Just a heads up - don't use the alcohol wipes on your hands, the alcohol will take residue into your skin. My son is an aviation engineer and that's the first thing he told me when I started using resin for my artworks. Baby wipes are much better and safer. :)

Actually you add the glaze powder with resin and mica or pigment and it gives amazing colors to the whole item in the mold .. not only a top coat .. tried it before and it’s like magic .. good luck 👍

Hi Julie! Yes of course I watch your videos! You’re one of the first you tubers I started watching 2.5 years ago! ❤️ And yes one squirt should be good, if you still have lots of bubbles after 5 min or so I would give another squirt - a light mist 😊 Good for you for restraining from torching lol

I did this same thing using the Dragonfly glaze on a mermaid tail last summer. It cured white in the resin and I thought it was ruined. I couldn’t bear tossing it because I had worked hard on scales so I just set it aside. The white slowly cleared up. It took months to clear up - not even kidding - but it gives a nice shimmer once it’s completely clear. I haven’t done it again since I don’t want to wait months to see if it may clear, but thought I’d throw in that info!

Also - just use the paint and resin - don't use the pigments if you want to put it right in the resin. A few drops is all you need - you will get more of a transparent shift effect though so if you want something more opaque then I'd use two different resin mixes. One with just the colour shift paint, then do another with a pigment. Its really quote pretty when you swirl them around.

That mold is awesome! With the color shift, it really shows up best on black. So, if you did all of the butterflies black and then used the different color shifts you'd definitely see the shift. And yes, not in the resin, just on top. These are still really beautiful.

The thing I like about using these paints instead of glitter is that because you've mixed in with the resin it doesn't fall like glitter. Not to mention that it adds a little bit of sparkle to any resin colour If you mix it all in at the same time.

Wouldn’t it be beautiful to make a big round plate/tray using these. Maybe with a clear and white thin base, then the butterflies, then a clear sparkle layer on top.
