Thanks for the video. It has me thinking of a few other modifications. Re: your modification shown here... you could just purchase those nylon lined nuts, or you could use an acorn nut on the inside, or you could crush the nut on the end of the rod (if it's not round, it won't turn) and the outside nut doesn't really matter, or you can just crush or deform the threads on the inside end of the rod. That should be enough options to keep from searching out a welder. And thanks also for the joke. I plan to get some mileage out of that one.

I did the exact same thing almost exact same thing with a very large nail and then I tack welded a washer on so it wouldn't fall out so that it would not fall out this was long before they came up with KZread

I don't have any but that looks pretty slick I would use nyloc nuts Then you probably wouldn't need a welder. Love the joke 🤣🤣🤣

Another trick I've used is drill a hole through the center of the rerod and bend a piece of wire around the rod it'll never go any further until you remove the wire. Welding really isn't a good idea, because then you can't modify it for different applications. Just a regular rod without threads will work to as long as a washer is holding the jaws together and drill holes on both sides, you want it loose and if there's ice buildup. Just something I've learned trapping when you could actually make a living trapping, before all of the liberals ruined the industry here in the United States.

I'm glad you like it. I've seen the pan and never gave it a thought about using them at all.

Use locking screws so you can undo it easily if need be. I'm a little unconvinced just because I could see the animal not liking the sideways trigger tines, then butting the edge of the trap to get around and it rotating and them skittering by missing the trap as it rotates around the screw rod. You'd probably still want to fence it off and secure it with support sticks to keep it from spinning,
