11:YEARS - The Rise of UK Fintech | Full Documentary
11:YEARS - The Rise of UK Fintech is a documentary that explores how the UK created a thriving fintech ecosystem from the ashes of the 2008 financial crisis. Hear from the founders and CEOs of the UK’s biggest fintechs such as Monzo, Starling, Revolut, OakNorth, as well as leaders from the FCA, Bank of England, and more.
The 2008 financial crisis brought so many countries in the world to the edge of insolvency, but the UK saw this as a chance for reform, and completely overhauled its banking sector to create one of the most enviable fintech ecosystems in the world.
In the documentary you’ll find out:
-How the financial crisis caused a reform in UK regulation that encourages competition
-Why London is the perfect environment for fintech innovation
-Why UK fintech is so attractive to VC firms and Angel investors
-Why the CEOs of the UK’s most successful fintech companies started their businesses here
-What future challenges and opportunities exist for UK #fintech

An excellent overview of the changes we all must embrace as we scrap the cheque book - hurrah - and whatever age we are, we accept the old banking system is dire, and we have to move mainly with our phones to how we 'bank'. I use Revolut and Chip as my start on the journey, and at 66 I am delighted that I now do most of my banking via apps. Your documentary encompassed so many reasons why the City of London is so marvellous. You Fintecs will overcome whatever Brexit throws at you, I have every confidence. Fantastic work. Garby

This is a really good documentary on Fintech in the UK. Definitely touches on a lot of interesting subjects and is very informative. We here at automata are building a fintech company in the UK (Neobank) and have first hand experience with how much London is a hub for fintech! 👍
The mugs were the stars of the show ;-) - Good job
Amazing film by an amazing team!
Love!!!
Sounds amazing!
I’m not one of these people who’s always looking back - and I had a fantastic 27 year career as a software engineer, but I have to say now would be great time to begin your journey in software. I would have loved to be involved in working for some of these startups....exciting times. Oh to be young again lol.
This is really amazing film i have learned a lot and its very helpful most of my questions i was looking for answers were answered. I was blown away about how most of those banks started and i guess its a worthy watching film. Thank you at team 11FS
Wonderful work 11:FS! Where was Sarah Kocianski though? - she'd have added even more to an already terrific panel!

Well made and informative. Arguably the spin on Fintech was too positive...Finding Circle's IPO has been a disaster and Zopa too are making big write downs
💚
Amazing documentary! Learned so much in a relaxed and catching way!
Really great doc. Enjoyed it a lot
Excellent documentary. Meaningful and inspiring for leadership, technology and innovation in ANY sector. What can we be in 11 years' time, post Covid-19?
thank you, great documentary!
Nice work 11:FS, in your opinion are any of the large retail banks getting it right for customers?

George Fraser so many are doing so much but it’s not an over night solution. Alison Rose at NatWest, Ashok at Barclays... there are leaders who know what to do but making it happen is hard. There are green shoots though.

David M. Brear thanks for the reply, I saw some good stuff from RBS/NatWest with Mettle and Bo before I left, long may it continue!
I really need to find the time to watch this in full
I would ditch traditional banks if you could deposit cash on online banks without having to transfer from a traditional bank. That would be the last step and I suspect that licenses and/or other regulations plus the cost of physical atms are the main barriers.
Great documentary, guys! Any follow-up film now that COVID-19 has disrupted the disruptors??
The sad conclusion of all this is that few people can except reality! Most people want to believe that everything is lovely and nice, and they will all live heavily ever after! Well, we all want to believe that, but that is way short of reality. The World is harsh, and it takes no prisoners.
What is the song at the beginning and the end?
Sir mark bolea just look like rowan atkinson especially when he start speaking 😂

Santander is the worst of the big banks. Get your friend to CHANGE banks ASAP.
