I think in one video way back, Karen, you mentioned that you hand wrote each item into a ledger-type list as you checked items into your inventory. What method do you like for tracking and inputting your stock? I wouldn't mind seeing that video, as well. Thx!

I know how elated you feel, I was so happy when I got married! I had some family from Argentina, all my friends. Thinking about it, just makes me happy. Life has been challenging for me, I have lost my hearing, I got cochlear implant. And now I am battling something else. That’s why I started selling, I need to fund my bills! Enjoy the happiness❤!

I don't know if you would consider this, but I have quite a bit of jewelry listed. For pins and earrings, I use hanging plastic double sided holders with small clear slots on them. For bracelets and necklaces, I use a small plastic bag, assign an inventory number and file them consecutively in clear shoe boxes with tops. It makes finding the sold item very easy since you don't have to remove several bags.

Couldn’t help notice the number of bins, bags and racks you had to shift as you pulled the sold items today and that your walkways are narrowing. That’s a big change for you, as you prep for Rogers stock arrival, but such has been my daily process since we gave up the old house and moved to the smaller place at the lake. Progress with new shelving, maximizing space and better organization are a constant since our move and I still have a fair amount of physically larger back-stock to shift and have been trying to source physically smaller items, that a still decent money, since the move. 🙂

I've been retired for several years now, but since 2009 I was a consultant (my own business) in the pharmaceutical industry and worked 6-8 months out of the year. Separating Jewelry Bin: you mentioned you may opt to separate by jewelry type, but now that you have a male partner (congrats by the way) who may help pull and pack with you, you might want to consider separating by the processing listing process, or purchased lots. If Roger is like me, the distinction between jewelry types or women’s fashion might be lost on him. For instance does a pendant watch go with watches or with other pendants. What you might do, as an alternative, is use boxes about the size of a Med Flat Rate and fill and mark them by group, relating to what is processed together as a batch. For example, all the Zs (Z1, Z2, Z3, etc) in a box, that came as a group buy, then a Box of Bs, etc. that way you fill each box as you photograph and list and it doesn’t matter if you sourced watches, bracelets and earrings on the same day. That way less time is involved in putting away new stock and pulling by number code, then item type. You can have the next box up where you photo and list and just keep filling until it’s full and grab another empty. As the inventory sells, bring up the box with space to add more and refill it with the next batch to come in and mark the box Z and X.

I find that the smaller the item physically, the smaller the storage container to hold a group needs to be, so less time is spent digging through a big group of small, similar items to find the bag number you seek. Since you already mark the ziplocks with a letter/number code (which I assume relates to the listing Custom SKU block), it would make sense to separate the jewelry by those same codes. Personally I’d rather have 6 small boxes on a shelf stacked up with 6 letter/numbers codes (or even a group of codes), then a single large bin with all the codes intermixed. Does Roger store his inventory by a Bin Index Number/Letter System or does he store by descriptive terms like you do: women’s dark tops? 🙂
