I really appreciated this whole video, and especially the part about the importance of maintaining boundaries and how it is possible to fall into not maintaining boundaries out of wanting to be nice to our clients. I think that some of the same traits that make a person a good fit for becoming a therapist (e.g., high empathy) also increases our risk these kinds of boundary violations, so I am glad you included that in your list.

Thank you so much for this! I am going back to school after motherhood and feel so intimidated by all the steps it takes to become a therapist BUT this reminded me of all the reasons I feel drawn to it why it makes sense for me even if it is still a bit far away. ❤

Alyssa, thank you so much for posting this! I’ve been trying to do as much research as possible on this field. I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do when I graduated with a degree in public health so I just started to think of my own natural traits and things I do everyday and they aligned really heavy with this field and I’ve been dedicated to the journey of becoming a therapist ever since and this video is very validating. Best!
