Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, it's true, Rome is so full of tiny streets, courtyards, and piazzas and even for those of us who live here, it takes a lifetime to explore them all!
An entry from my journal after returning from Rome. Now, more than three weeks removed from this tiny heavenly form of delight, I find that I miss it terribly. I love the whole ritual of having cappuccino. Standing in line with the locals to place my order and watching in awe at how quickly and gracefully the baristas work. And enjoying the virtually theatrical sounds of the Espresso machine alternatively grinding the fresh coffee beans and steaming the milk. And the intensity of the Italian language spoken by the locals as they traded words with each other.

Like your vids but may I suggest a site of particular interest to any Brits? It is the Basilica of St Pudentiana in the Via Urbana, about two miles from the Coliseum. This church, now a centre for the Filipinos of Rome, was the site of the Paladium Britannica, the British Palace, so called because it was the site of the home given to the British war leader Caradoc, or Caratacus, who led the Welsh Silures and Ordovices in warfare against Rome after the Roman invasion. After his capture, Caradoc and his family were taken to Rome but instead of being executed, he was granted his freedom and that of his family due to his impressive speech to the senate. This is where things get interesting because the Welsh were Gnosticism Christians from the first century and Caradoc’s daughter, Pudens, was a leading Christian who held clandestine meetings at the British Palace. It is thought that St Paul himself was a visitor there. And the first Bishop of Rome was not St Peter but Linus, a son In law of Caradoc. So Rome received Christianity from Britain, not the other way around.
@Romewise
Ай бұрын
Thank you for your suggestion. I love Santa Pudentiana and most people don't know a lot about it. Since St. Paul is said to have visited Senator Pudens' home which is where Santa Prassede is today, it would make sense that he also visited the home of Pudentia, Praxedes sister. I didn't know about this story about Caradoc - thanks so much for sharing it!
@petrovonoccymro9063
Ай бұрын
@@Romewise thanks for your reply. Revisiting my sources tells me that Pudenziana was in fact the granddaughter of King Caradoc, the Welsh war leader. She was martyred for her faith and her mother was Caradoc’s daughter Claudia. Most Catholic scholars maintain that the first Bishop of Rome was in fact Linus, not Peter. The term Pope did not come into being until several centuries later. It is thought that the Catholic Church later promoted Peter as the first Pope and relegated Linus to second, in a political move, because Peter was one of Christs apostles. By the way, Caratacus or Caradoc had led the Welsh Silures in their opposition to the Romans in Britain for some nine years before his capture. He was treacherously handed to the Romans by Queen Cartismandua, of the Brigantes tribe (in the British Midlands). Even without his leadership, the Silures carried on fighting the Romans for another twenty years and there is some evidence that they even defeated a legion in battle. There is even doubt that the Silures were ever defeated at all. The Romans certainly built them the town of Caerwent in South Wales which they ran as a civitas. (many Roman remains today,including large town walls and an early church, do Google ). Some historians believe the Romans and Silurians came to a peace treaty, signed at Cardiff, Welsh Caer Dydd, City of the Treaty, or Agreement. Hope this helps.

Im visiting Rome in August this year. One thing that is sadly lacking in all of these clips, (not just yours), is any reference to accessibility for mobility impaired people. I use a walker and im afraid of getting into a site and then not being able to access it properly. I realize that it is a very small market, but even people with children in strollers must experience the same problems. Im not expecting a full video on this subject, but simple an ad on at the end saying its either suitable or not for anyone with mobility issues. 🙂

The best museum in Rome is MUSEO NAZIONALE ROMANO.
It's unfortunate but I've waited TOO long because of raising a family and the cost of travel to do any, and now that I'm retired, I have physical handicaps such as knee issues. Walking is difficult and almost impossible to accommodate all I'd like to see. So with that in mind I know that most of what I want to see will be walking. However, is there anything to accommodate, such as a scooter ride or bikes or something that can accommodate handicapped, someone who can't do the walking?
