11 Joule TR50 VS Byrna which has more power?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I just converted my TR50 to 11 Joules to see if it is more powerful and accurate than my Byrna!

The main thing with TR50/HDR50 is that you can use HPA instead of CO2. That takes it to another power level entirely. There is youtube videos of people modding TR50/HDR50 to 90 Joules, which is equivalent to 22 short firearm.

HPA for HDR/HDP 50 guns is a gimmick to play in the garage with. It makes them bulky and harder to manage. They are meant to be convenient and easy to use when needed. If you feel that you need to go to that power level, just get a PCP pellet gun. I have a MUB 50 for the night stand and an AEA HP SS .30 for follow-up.

The advantage with the Umarex comes in the use of the pepperballs. I have a Byrna, and while I like it, the spring pressure in the magazine has cracked a couple of the pepperballs. While the Umarex rounds are smaller, they also are not under pressure, which means the pepperballs don’t break inadvertantly.

I completely disagree. That’s pure marketing, don’t fall for it. As a non-lethal weapon enthusiast for years now pepper balls are a gimmick. They can easily break in your gun incapacitating you. The chances of them breaking on somebody’s clothes they’re wearing is slim. There is a reason police fire pepper balls at the ground. No, the advantage of these is the impact of the ball, the sound it makes, and that it looks like a real firearm. So what you get is the perfect device to create a distraction to buy you some time to either grab your actual pepper spray, jump on the person, or run. Using pepper balls in these is taking a huge risk and not recommended after doing extensive research on it.

HDR/TR 50 has options for power upgrades and ammunition that Byrna doesn't have. Also, there is the HDR 68 that fires the same size rounds as the Byrna. The HDR 68 has power upgrades and ammo options too. I want a Byrna for carrying around town but if were just talking power, Umarex has it all the way.

you should have used the straight from the factory HDR 50 11 joules along with their black nylon/pvc rounds and the devastators. I hear the factory 11 joule hdr has better seals and overbuilt compared to a modified 7.5 joule recreation version. This comparison doesn't do the Umarex weapon justice since there's also no chrono test to reference both products

I read that should get atleast 20j. Next step is shorter pin, that get me 30j with that kit i have for now. I have the HDP full kit with steel barrel 8inch..realy strong. Both guns, shoot with 2.8gram bullets. Should go up to 3.8grams bullet to get more joules. Can shoot up to 8gram steel bullets.

My 11 Joule TR50 has measured 502 FPS with 22 Gr. nylon balls for 12.31 FPE or 16.7 Joules. It shoots the plastic balls completely through 1/2 in. drywall and dents a piece behind. The balls also will penetrate both sides of a Progresso soup can (heavier gauge steel than Campbells). I can imagine what they would do when shot at an attackers face !

Hello, when it comes to power and a smaller the better air gun, what would you recommend? I'd like a gun I could carry almost always, but if it's a giant like the 11 Joules I know I won't want to carry it too often. I like the GRIMBURG FSC / PEPPERBALL TCP. What do you think about the size of it? It is one of the most powerful air guns, right? It's 4 pounds and pretty expensive. Anyways, if you have time let me know what most favorite smallest gun that packs a punch is. thanks@@airgunnerreviews7888

In many states, 47 Joules is pushing the limits for them to be considered less than lethal so you need to be careful with the upgrade kits and check with your local law enforcement to see what the state limit is. If you've ever been shot with the Byrna Kinetic rounds, you wouldn't call them weak at all. They hit hard and hurt like hell 😔 My son can group all 5 shots with his Byrna SD within a 3 inch circle at 20 feet which will easily drop anyone who tries to mess with him. Unfortunately he's not allowed to use the chemical rounds until he takes the Chemical Agent Certification exam from Byrna, but even then the Cal State Universities don't allow any type of chemical agents on campus.

That’s using the “Byrna Bouncer” as I call it. Projectiles bounce off or only partially impact demo targets at what, 11-17 Joules maximum? Humans here volunteer to take direct hits. The Grishom Gavle 1.5 produces a whopping 39 Joules with 16 gm CO2 canisters. Any volunteers to take those rounds boys? Toys versus self defense. Bounce offs or “dig ‘em outs”. Take your pick.

Very true I definitely see where your coming from! Unfortunately neither of thes launchers are ideal as the Byrna lacks power but can be drawn and fired in one motion and the Gavle has high power but two hands are needed to activate so if someone rushes in your not going to have time to activate the C02. We are still lacking in the less lethal world!
