I actually have a cat who had kittens while she was still a kitten! She was found at around 9 months, heavily pregnant, and was immediately rushed to a vet. She required surgery in order to survive the labour, and as a result of the pregnancy, her growth was stunted, but she survived and is thriving to this day! :)

My cat had a distinct smell to her when she gave birth and so did her new kittens. I thought it could be her colostrum, but through the years after that (even after she was spayed and my kitten is now an adult) I would sometimes catch a rare whiff of it on them and I’d ask them why they smell “baby”. The papa cat never has it though. And it’s such a pleasant smell

If you're giving a cat a flea bath, wash around the neck with soapy water first. Fleas always head for higher ground when they're getting wet and the soap will create a barrier to them, so it's easier to get most of them . They will drown in soapy water. Then use a flea comb to get any that are on the head and face. Some cats can get allergies to flea bites. We had a cat that would get huge raw areas on her skin that oozed if she was bitten by fleas, much worse reaction than just an itchy spot on the skin. The vet said she was extremely allergic to fleas so we put flea and tick meds on her every summer even though she didn't go outside. You can bring fleas and their eggs into the house on your shoes. We had to be very careful about fleas, ticks and mosquitoes, Angora cats have a tendency to react strongly to any kind of bites.

My mom and I rescued a throwaway blue & cream tortie who had been declawed. And her 2 kittens (that we know of). Male was a blue boy we named Eeyore bc of his color. The little girl I forget what itcwas bt rather generic. Mama we called Dusty. She loved my mom. What cracked me up was when the kittens played typical kitten bouncy play, mom's reaction was: "Them's not kittens! Them's little cats!" She learned a lot during that rescue, but as I'd raised kittens before, I already knew it.

Flea Anemia is no joke, when I was younger (10+ years ago) we came across an abandoned kitten (I named him Chip) that was infested. Unfortunately, though we tried saving him, he passed away the next day. More recently we came across a pair of kittens that had fleas (not as bad as 'Chip' did) and after a quick vet phone call, we took snips of my adult cat's Seresto flea collar (note: Seresto collars have a 8 month usage, and at the time this happened, the collar we snipped was already on my cat for 6 months) attached them to the outside of some kitten collars, and put them on the kittens. Within a few hours both kittens were flea free and survived. Both 'Biscuit' and 'Bobby' both are now happy and healthy 1 year old neutered males, living with my friend's parents (their forever home).

I've always hated a favoritism thing. But I entertained it enough to see if there was any truths to it. I mean not actively always acting things out but just paying more attention to reactions. I mean, males and females are built differently. But I observe it in pets more bc 🤷🏻‍♀️I just get bored. Trying to figure what they're thinking by how they react bc u know? They can't really speak to us. My hubby tried doing the favoritism thing w/ all the boy guinea pigs. His dog, to me, is his dog. This little kitten we just rescued, he's already claiming. ,,, but I def all animals know the difference and sense the difference in males vs females. No matter what dynamics he thought he was gonna manipulate w/ the piggies those boys will just always be boys. Though it'd be absolutely more helpful if he kept all their belongings in there so they wouldn't fight as much. Ud think he learn. His ended up being the runt. He did eventually grow. But like daddy, he still learns everything the hard way... my fellas, they're forever getting into it and turning on each other. The 1 that's ironically more chill - w/ humans is my eldest. But hes more of a mommas boy 😊. But ohhhh he's a mean 1 to the others. Lacey, our pitt, he thinks she favors me. He spends more time w/ her. I just do basic things w/ her. I'm just more distant. I'd say I just think she picks up on his temper tantrums and mood swings. I tell him he acts worse than a teen girl pmsing sometimes. He's gotta lot of issues... :/ even the dog picks up on that bc who doesn't? I mean, I think she's a sweetie. & she knows I'm the not as easily ill tempered. But 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️ he claimed her. He's way more active and lovey dovey towards her than me. I'm not mean to her. I just dont like her smothering me all the time. As for the kitty, I guess he found something brand new and Shiney he can smother. 🤷🏻‍♀️but she's a baby, she'll love anyone nice to her. Honestly, honestly all animals wuv me. So it doesn't always phase me that much when they show affections. Unless it's just an animal I'm not used to. Then there's him: I'm like the God of Google search. Move over all vets. I know better than u bc I go by my emos and my emos are plenty passionate enough. Therefore i have all the right answers. And if else fails blame the wife

I was under the impression that when a cat kneads (other than it's mother's teat) it was marking/laying claim to it's possession/territory, because it has scent glands in it's feet. My cat frequently kneads the tops of my feet - when I'm wearing slippers thankfully, because claws are used - but he only does it when I'm wearing moccasin style slippers, which happen to be made of suede.

There is a flea medication that can be given to kittens under eight weeks old. It's called Capstar; and has been around for years. Thing is, it's only effective for twenty-four hours; so the kittens have to take another pill every day (if it's being used as a repellent); plus it's pretty expensive. So it's much easier to get the kittens de-flead, then keep them protected indoors (along with the mother) in a flea-free environment. Short of that, you can use Dawn dishwashing liquid to get rid of the fleas; but it has no residual effect at all (i.e., it only kills/gets rid of the fleas that are on the kittens and/or mother cat at the time of the bath). You also can't give the mother cat conventional flea treatments; because whatever is on her skin/in her bloodstream will be transferred to the kittens as they nurse; so getting rid of the little buggers once and for all, unfortunately (given that cats and kittens should be bathed sparingly) can be a little complicated. :-\ Younger kittens are so delicate. Ours showed up in our backyard (someone likely dropped him off-wouldn't be the first time, where we live) at around six weeks of age. He was so tiny he could practically fit in my husband's palm, Looking back he probably wasn't even yet weaned; however someone just abandoned him to fend for himself. :( I don't know how people can bring themselves to do that to a tiny, helpless animal. He was skittish at first; but took to my husband quickly, especially after he'd received a few meals in his tum-tum! 😻 (so we knew he was likely socialized as a baby, not born to a feral mom). He's since been bathed (he was extremely well-behaved!), and to the veterinarian (FeLV/FIV test negative; FVRCP vaccinated, along with Revolution Plus to help get rid of his ear mites). He'll be about four months old (and 5+ lbs!) when he goes for his scheduled neuter surgery later this month. In the meantime he's keeping our three older girl kitties (two siblings age thirteen; and one going to be sixteen in March) on their toes, because he always wants to play but they're not interested, lol. Anyway, thanks for this video-it was most timely. Most of the information I already knew; but it never hurts to have a 'refresher' every once in a while.

It makes sense to me- human females can become pregnant even at young ages like 11 years old if they are r*ped. The youngest human mother was 5 or 6 somehow. And all those ages are considered children. So why wouldn't it be the same for cats? And cats don't have a human sense of morality, the female goes into heat and the males are automatically interested in her regardless of her age, so if anything it's surprising it's not more common. But I'm glad it's not- they should be able to enjoy kittenhood and achieve full growth before having to give birth. I imagine giving birth at a young age is risky for cats just like it is for humans.

Man, my cat once had 10 kittens and it was ridiculous to keep track of them. The interesting thing was that ALL of them were tuxedos. So I’m pretty sure my cat actually stayed with the same male which I think is neat because not a lot of cats do that

Be careful if you don't have mommy milk . I left for a sleepover as a teenager. I had taken on a job of trying to keep kittens thrown in a bush. I lost 2 early. But 2 were doing good. I fed them every few hours and kept them warm. Trusted my family with instructions. By the time i got home the weaker of the 2 was dead. The vet said they were too tiny. Its impossible. I used an eyedropper and milk for kittens. When my brother brought them home from a walk. We really didn't even know what they were. Yep quiet and tiny almost the size of a hamster maybe. Closed eyes. Well in the end that one last kitten survived, but only because i was so careful. She got huge. Became an indoor out door cat. One night she didn't come home. I yelled And took a flash light out to look. I saw shining eyes Lots of them. My cat in front of about 10 carts in a triangle formation as they ran. What the heck? My baby was the leader of the pack.lol

Flea anemia can occur in adults cats too. Though it is rare. I had one tuxedo cat that died from it. It didn't seem to make any difference what I did to get rid of them. The flea collars didn't stop them. They just sucked him dry. 😥

I had a 10 year old cat that had flea anemia. My cat was indoors, and we was giving our flea infested dog a flea bath, and our home got infested bad when we brought the dog inside the house to bathe him. I took our cat to the veterinarian, and they dipped him in anti flea stuff. Kept him overnight with an IV. I had to clean the house top to bottom, wash everything the cat laid, then spray with a veterinarian approved flea spray. Vacuumed every day, threw the bags out daily. Never had a flea problem this cat’s whole life, nor the dog, till our crazy neighbor infested our yard with sand bags he brought to his home from the bad 1993 Midwest flood. Those bags of sand were infested with fleas, so our neighbor infested the whole neighborhood! 😡 Cost us a lot of money to get rid of the fleas out of our yard and home!

I knew a lot of these, but not all of them. I did know that kittens can have kittens though. When I was a kid, my mom brought home a tiny orange tabby one day. She was still very small and probably only about four months old when my older brother found her pregnant. Sadly, she wasn't big enough to carry the kittens and they were all stillborn. At least we found her in time and were able to get her to a vet safely. She never grew properly after that. She was always super tiny, but also fat. She was happy and healthy though. She lived to be 19 years old!

I don't see why it would be extraordinary or unexpected that there could be more than one father of a single litter. It's not like any single kitten has 2 fathers. Now THAT would be something. But of course multiple eggs are going to be fertilized by multiple sperm and there's no reason they all need come from the same male cat. This would be the case for any living thing that gives birth and may ever have more than one offspring at a time.
