Cool work. Especially how the design still allows it to eat the "Players" while still moving up and down. The last production I saw of this, the set designers decided to break tradition and not do the traditional "flytrap". Instead, Audrey II was more of a bulb-like plant with a large leaf-like blade over the top of its head. The biggest difference for that one was that they gave the puppets eyes, so Audrey II could actually look around and be a bit more expressive in that way. (For "Pod 4", they did another interesting trick and got four different grade schoolers into full-body "tendril" costumes that connected to the main plant, allowing Audrey II to thrash around realistically.)

  • @mentallydisturbedscience8900

The main theme is how a nice person becomes corrupt. You watch Seymour slide from harmless, kind, gentle man, to indifference to (an admittedly bad) person's plight, to straight-up murder to protect and enrich himself. In the end, he loses everything. All the other themes in the show are incidental. The physical abuse and drugs aren't great, but to pretend that high school kids haven't seen that in their own lives or those of their friends, is naive.
