Thank you very much for this very complete video of the place... you have very smartly organized your tour, especially because you began by Camping Pehoe... Coming from Argentina (USHUAIA) I have been there for a part of W trek as I didn't book for anything in advance, not knowing if Chile would ask for vax certificate, which finally they did not... Next year I will do the whole O trek... was there feb 20, 2023. I am from Belgium... What I loved the most was the trek from Paine Grande to Grey refuge and back, and Salto Grande area... would also like next time to explore river Serrano area...

So glad you liked the video! U will love the O. Many people we met did the W before and this was their 2nd visit to complete the O. I couldn’t find any info on doing the route this way so was very glad it worked out. If you stay at Camping Pehoé next time, ask for a site across the street - u will get likely unobstructed views right from your tent as there aren’t many trees in that part. We just published our Ushuaia video today, memories are making me want to go back too! Did you go to El Chalten?

Glad it helped. We were on the trail Jan22-Feb1 this year. We weren’t sure how fast we wanted to go so did not skip any campsites. It’s peak season but it was fine. It only felt truly busy at the miradors and Paine Grande. Are you planning to do the Q as well?

Wow! Amazing video! Thanks for sharing your experiences as well as tips for those of us who are planning to do this as well. We plan on staying in camp pehoe too however it seems like summer months cannot be reserved online. May I know how you made the reservation? Is it ok if there is no advance booking?

Thanks for the great feedback! Do you mean their summer (Dec on) - it may not be open yet for reservations and they close during winter. It is hard to get a hold of someone in the off season but try their whatsapp in a few months or the online booking maybe open then too. Have fun!!!!

@carolyncoe131 so weird, got your question in my email but can’t find it on the video to respond to it. Bookings open early July for the next season, so book in July 2024 for the Oct 2024- April 2025 season. To save $, we booked directly with the 2 park operators. Hope this helps and please ask any other questions you have.

@@carolyncoe131 we used this online map to plan and understand distances and time. Our website blog has a couple articles on planning tips as well that may be helpful, link is in the ‘about’ section in our youtube page. There are no maps for sale at the campsites or visitors centre. We saw a historic map for sale in Puerto Natales and the Paine Grande shop but it’s more of a souvenir type than a real map. torresdelpaine.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Mapa2017-2018.pdf

I (Karen) am pretty paranoid about bathroom stops and I never had to go while hiking. On the long sections eg after John Garner Pass, there is a western toilet at the check in at Camp Paso. If you do need to go in the bushes, make sure to look up ‘Leave No Trace’ principles ie 200ft away from water sources and to pack any waste out. I brought little doggy poop bags for TP and a kula cloth but never had to go. On the W, the distances aren’t too long between. There is a toilet at camp italiano for the frances lookout hike but no TP so pack that. The Argentina Fitz Roy side is another story.
