This is great, I recently started doing this. Using only Payne's Gray, Ivory black, or neutral tint and it has really helped me to be bold with darks, to get that value looking good. I'm going to keep doing this for a while until I get better and then start bringing in colors again. Great suggestion.

This helps a lot! I always look to your vids for learning. The best and most helpful thing I've learned from you is mapping out perspective. I can't tell you how much that has helped my art - it's clear, concise, easy and actually applies the principle to drawings and paintings - something a lot of people miss in explaining .

@@M0odyBlue I've taken local art classes - none of them show this as well as he does - not the application of it anyway - they show you cubes and orbs and all along the planes - but he explains it with cars and cities - things you want to apply it to - BEST teacher on that.

Great lesson in the value of values! Interesting when you switched to grey scale at the end. Presumably one can check values digitally using any colour other than grey too.

Hello, this is the method I use when I want to find out the characteristics of some paint quickly. I usually draw flowers, and your scenery is also very nice. I really want to learn how to draw like you. So your videos help me a lot. I enjoyed the video. Thank you .😊

Oh, that's very interesting. I would be using mixed media for a value study... but I suspect I would want good watercolor paper do a study of the characteristics! What paper do you use? Lol, lab blab colors! I wanted to address you and just looked at your name... 😅 very cute.
