One thing to consider when spending money on glass, what will you use it for in the off season? If you spend lots of time on the thousand yard range maybe a nicer spotting scope would be the right call, if your a bird watcher then get the nice binos. Your not only going to use that glass during hunting season, maybe off season use won’t sway your choice just want to point out it is something to at least consider.

One other advnatage of the straight is when you go back and forth between your Binoculars and Spotting Scope on the Tripod. The Straight means you don't need to fiddle with the tripod height.

Your least expensive optics are SO much better than my old 'high end' optics from a decade ago 😂

Using a Kilo2400ABS range finder with the applied ballistics profiles on it, then move to a Nightforce 3-32X . Can't see the need to drag along another optical device through a hunt. Gets worse late season at -30 Celsius with blowing snow, the more equipment you take out the more equipment breaks. With this combo you won't need to carry your Kestrel either. Considered a spotting scope for extreme long range target training, but I picked up a Golden Eagle 15-60x optic for that a while back ($2000 CDN on sale ) and it already gives 60x magnification.

If I'm not mistaking it depends - diamondback HD entry level spotters are made in the Philippines, whereas the Razor top tier spotters are made here in the US with Japanese glass.

Honestly, nowadays you're better off looking at a specific manufacturer"s QC reputation rather than country of origin when determining possible quality. I've had great gear manufactured by good Chinese companies, and I've had shitty, expensive gear that was made right here at home.

Instead of just screaming "cartridge talks" can i perhaps lend some inspiration for a *specific* cartridge talk? I'd like to hear Ryan (and all of you, but señor Muckenhirn would probably know the most offhand) talk about the .284 winchester. It's a cartridge that has intrigued me since i first found out about it, and i have since constantly wondered why no one has chambered it in an AR10 (since it's a short action and fit a "normal" .308 bolt face) it could have been a high stepping 7mm that could have been revived if smart design had followed the seemingly constant desire for "more" in an AR. But i wonder if it was simply lack of popularity in the first place, of ir there were technical challenges that im unaware of that prevented it from being adapted to the AR10.
