By the mid to late 90s,the Disney Renaissance was… on its way back down in terms of popularity. But amongst the more questionable movies arose one of the most interesting movies they ever made, based on a historically significant novel. It was wildly out there for what a family friendly company like Disney was expected to produce, so today, we're going to take stock of what's what. I'm Jeremy and these are 107 facts you should know about Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Despite the tone problems, this is my favorite Disney animated movie because it really pushed the limits of what story could be told in the animation medium. Considering 2-D animation's not favored by big studios in the west anymore and Disney's identity has grown to be a mainstream audience pleasing content machine, we're never going to get another one like it at least from WDAS.

An addendum about Esmeralda: though it is true that in the book she was kidnapped by the Romani (and 16 for that matter), Disney is not the first to make the change. A 1956 film adaptation of the story also has her as a genuine Romani woman and most productions have aged her up .

Maybe Esmerelda’s red dress, being a color the Romani consider bad luck, might’ve been a sign that something bad would happen to her. It’s kinda a sign of danger when something is red. (Then again, they probably wouldn’t want her to dress in that color in the first place if it’s a bad omen…)

Um...sorry to disappoint you, but Fact # 11 about the spire is actually not true. The spire was built between 1220 and 1230. It was removed in the 1700s due to damage but was rebuilt sixty years later.

im happy that they finally did a video for this movie but the voiceover is so flat and feels halfhearted, even for a huge fan of the movie this was really hard for me to sit through. its upsetting when your other 107 vids have so much more energy to them so this didnt really give this movie the credit it deserves with just laziness of the script reading. it takes away from the video so much and its disappointing to say the least :/

#52 - That's not Achilles. That's Snowball. Achilles is gray (probably an Andalusian) and belongs to Phoebus. Snowball is a black Friesian and belongs to Frollo. #60 - I'm still bitter about that. And about Disney taking Clopin's scythe away.
