I just tought about the fact that Greed died asking for nothing more, Sloth partially died because he used many lives to dig the transmutation circle (died because of work). Interesting point u brought here!

Wrath was killed by an Ishvalan (Scar) from revenge, since he started the Ishvalan War (before anyone says that it was Envy, yes, but King Bradley aka Wrath declared Ishvalan extermination.) Lust is killed because she seduced Lt. Havoc. It's funny how the 7 deadly sins were killed by their own sins.They are deadly (for them, not for us). P.S:Maybe that's why Envy is the fan-favorite homunculus, his death was explained (yes, Envy is male, or i don't know if Homunculus can have genders,). P.S.S: Personally, i think that the Homunculus origins in the 2003 version was better (they are created by human transmutation) rather than simply being made by ''Father''. Lust has no feelings towards the other sex Gluttony always wants to eat but he never feels hunger Sloth can easily force himself to do what he has to, a lot of people can't do that Envy isn't jelaous at all except for the time he dies Pride (unlike other Homunculi like Envy) doesn't seem to be proud of being what he is (also, he dies realizing he meant nothing to his father and in general) Wrath always controls himself Greed, although saying he desires everything, doesn't want any money and never lies, infact, he died because he sacrificed himself to save someone else

Another fact: In the brotherhood series, milk is not the only reason why ed is "short" another reason is that his automail is so heavy that it constraints his growth. This can be proven because on his adventure at the north he changed into a more lighter automail then we can fairly notice that he grew taller than winry..

My favorite part of the "Ed hating milk" part is the fact that Hiromu included a disclaimer in the manga. When Ed is injured and Winry yells at him that he didn't drink his milk, the line Ed says is, "I'm not going to drink some opaque white liquid that was secreted by a cow!!!" The disclaimer that Hiromu included at the bottom of the page, "My apologies to all the dairy farmers." XD

The thing on Al's shoulder isn't his blood seal, that's his sacrifice marking, the blood seal is on the inside of his armor

Actually, that's a symbol known as the Flamel Cross or the Flamel Symbol. It seems to signify more about having been taught by Izumi Curtis than anything else (Izumi has it as a tattoo, it's on the back of Ed's coat and on the shoulder of Al's armor) But yea, that ain't the blood seal lol.

I'm late here but I think they were thinking the water could have gotten inside Al's armor to get to his seal. But anyway that still doesn't work because they've been caught in the rain multiple times and he's been fine. I always thought it was only if the seal were broken (like when his armor was about to physically break) or if someone were to scrub it off.

I've watched both, but Brotherhood just flows so much easier to me. Since the creators did not know how the rest of the story was meant to go in the original series, it seemed as if they just turned the plot around too fast, which may have confused a lot of viewers. I love both of the series however, I just personally prefer Brotherhood.

I had the feeling that the crew who made the 2003 knew how to make a story, but they didn't know how to finish it. I liked the ending itself, but the way all of this parallel dimension stuff came out of nowhere really bothered me and didn't fit into the story. It's like they suddenly realized that they ran out of time and needed to finish it quickly. The last 5 episodes felt extremely rushed.

Jewel Bass It's a shame. I honestly liked the 2003 approach to the story a lot more than the Brotherhood one. But the characters were more fleshed out than the ones from the 2003 one, the story seemed more natural and the ending was better. It's a shame that Brotherhood still cut a lot of things from the manga out. If it had been like the 2003 up to episode 20 or something like that, then Brotherhood would have been a lot better. I like Brotherhood more, but only a little bit. And the homunculi being failed human transmutations was so interesting, but they completely forgot about Bradley, Gluttony and Greed. While Brotherhood didn't have such an interesting concept and explanation for them, Greed and Bradley were way more interesting characters than their 2003 counterparts. Envy was amazing in Brotherhood too ... without his backstory though. They almost make up for Sloth, Wrath and Lust from the 2003 version. 2003 FMA and the manga were running at the same time, so I'm a bit disappointed that Hiromu didn't take inspiration from it, even if that sounds pretty harsh.

See that's the main problem I had with Brotherhood. It seemed to give its characters way less of an emotional appeal than in the 2003 version. I agree that the humonculi should have had had more of a backstory in Brotherhood. While Wrath and Greed still somewhat made up for it, I felt as if the other character were just cast aside.

Jewel Bass I personally like the villains of the 2003 one more, but in my opinion the protagonists are superior in Brotherhood. I only liked Izumi in the original one more, while all the Brotherhood counterparts were better. The cast was so big in Brotherhood, but they still managed to make me like every single character. This is a hard thing to pull off, even with 64 episodes, especially if you consider that many characters were introduced around episode 32. But I think I get what you mean. I think that the characters in the 2003 one were often very close to despair. Barry the Chopper, Nina, Trisha, Wrath, the philosopher's stone and and the gate. Heck, Ed even considered giving up once and I think he actually did. It always felt that I was suffering with them and that I could stare into their soul. While I personally liked for example Ed and Al more in the Brotherhood one (even though Al was sometimes sassy in the 2003 one), I felt more connected to them. But I rather go on an adventure with them like in Brotherhood, than experiencing all those fucked up moments in the 2003 one along with them.

Just recently binge watched this and then cried like a baby cause it was over and I wanted more. Not sure why I waited this long to watch it but the wait was worthwhile. Also, anime companies, *this* is how you do a proper manga adaptation. No milking the cow, just pure awesomeness. And yeah, I'm looking at you, Naruto

I couldn't finish the original FMA because it became a total clusterfuck once it caught up with the manga. I almost didn't bother watching Brotherhood because I thought it was a sequel or something, but I'm SO glad I did because it's one of my top fav animes.

Wendy Powell does some of the best voice acting I have ever heard. She nailed Envy, and if her voice wasn't so unmistakable she'd likely have dozens more big roles.

Here's a fact some might have easily missed. In season 1 of FMA Brotherhood episode 9 just a little over 5 minutes of the episode where Winry is at the station, just before meeting Armstrong; you see Izumi and her husband pass behind Winry. This is the first time we see them before they're actually introduced - a few episodes later. This happens the same time Winry tells herself that she would "see someone familiar" (according to Ed's instructions). Which could also be a nod to the audience that might recognize Izumi from the original anime or the manga. I thought that was really clever and I wondered why I never see this mentioned .

Fact 108: Brotherhood has a well deserved 9.1/10 on imdb and stands as the 22nd highest rated tv show of all time!

one thing I've always wanted from FMA(B) is to see those 3 years where Ed and Al were just serving the military, without much to do with Homunculi or a philosophers stone. odd I've heard more good things about FMAB but FMA got more awards.

Fma also deals with the problems of being short.

The 2003 anime will always be my favorite out of the two animes. Brotherhood was okay, but 2003 holds the special place in my heart.

Same. The original got me emotionally attached to the characters, like they were real people you were friends with. It was like you had known them all your life. My god, 2003 made me cry way more times than I like to admit. Brotherhood was more focused on the journey, and like the video says, 2003 was focused on character development whilst also getting you attached to everyone. Though.. Brotherhood had a better ending, whilst Conqueror of Shambhala had more of a bittersweet one :P

Wasn't expecting to see Shaman King in this. That hit me right in the nostalgia. ♥ I really missed (alive) Barry in the Brotherhood series. It was flat-out insulting when the Elric brothers went: "Who? Sorry, I've never heard of you" when he literally gave me nightmares in the 2003 version.

While I consider Brotherhood superior, I watched FMA first, and it has a special place in my heart. I can still watch that show and enjoy it for what it is.

Actually for fact number 44, when they mentioned Switzerland and Liechtenstein from the show Hetalia, they got something wrong. Switzerland and Liechtenstein are brother and SISTER. Liechtenstein is a girl. She looked up to her brother so much that she cut her hair to look like his style and would get very upset when mistaken for a boy in the show. Which is why she started wearing a ribbon in her hair and more dresses.

I don't see the scar you're referring to in fact 69. The first time you show Ed's face, there is no scar anywhere near his eye, or above it for that matter. You then mention that the scar can be seen throughout the series while showing Ed crawl through a vent. However, this scene happened immediately before his fight with Slicer (needless to say - no scar). Then you mention that his scar tears when something hits it. The image you showed reveals a cut below his eye, not above. I'm a bit confused on this one. I think this fact may be incorrect. Perhaps you meant Ed's scar is present in the manga, which is mostly true (according to the Wikia page). However, the FMA wikia also mentions that the scar does seem to heal over completely after a certain point in the story.

I prefer just full metal alchemist way more due to how it ended, I just don't like happy endings like in the manga and brotherhood mainly because it is just too happy and it makes me feel like the anime will never continue and is over leaving nothing left

I don't want to nitpick but the M2 Bardley is not a tank. It's an infantry fighting vehicle. Its job is to transport and support soldiers in the battlefield. Tank is suppose to be in the front fighting other tanks or pillboxes. For example: the Bardley has a 25mm autocannon while a tank usually has something like a 120mm non-automatic cannon.

Maybe they wanted viewers to think that she was gonna die??? Either way, it doesn't always mean that a character is dead when silence is accompanying their eye catch

Such a great anime. I first watched an episode when I was like six. It must have been like three in the morning and it was WAY past my bedtime. It was the episode where a particularly jealous guy died, so I was understandably confused. Didn’t see it again after that, or know what it was called, but it stuck in the back of my mind. Did a ton of crazy google searches trying to find out what it was called, and figured it out after finding out what a certain lizard was named. Binged it a few weeks ago and my life was complete.

Can’t tell which origin of the homunculi I like better. On the one hand they being born from parts of father adds to the story more so as it shows his lack of basic human emotions and how he believes they are inferior but them being products of human transmutation effects the characters more as they created them. Also the fact that they created a monster instead of reviving their parents is more of a gut punch and makes the emotional impact greater and greater connection between the characters and the homunculi.

something you might not have noticed (though it becomes pretty obvious by watching the complete show): In Brotherhood there are a lot of blonde characters from Amestris and their hair is always lined with black. On the other hand, Hohenheim's, the Elric brothers' and the Xerxenians' hair is lined with a goldish brown. This puts an emphasis on the fact that the Xerxenians' hair is gold and not 'ordinary' blonde like those of the Amestrians. In the original anime all blonde characters had black lined hair

I preferred the the first FMA anime . I liked the more realistic aspect it took over Brotherhood .

I know FMA Brotherhood is based on the manga; but I've always preferred the first Fullmetal Alchemist show. There's always a feeling of in-depth emotion and development in the first while Brotherhood comes across as fast-paced and too cartoonish. But that's just me.

i can completely agree and i love the plot and ending of the original w/o the movie. the movie made it perfect but the animes ending is stronger than the end of brotherhood in my opinion. brotherhood looks and flows better but i dont like the ending though it is the true ending. both animes are good but i prefer the 2003.

By "the original" I assume you mean the 2003 anime, yea? With Dante and all? Brotherhood is more of a retelling to be honest. A lot of anime, if started while the manga is not yet complete, get a different ending due to Anime not really using "Seasons" like western cartoons do. That, or a metric shitton of filler. Due to this, 2003 FMA diverges from the Manga, and thus Brotherhood, around.... I think the big differences start around Rush Valley? Or Dublith? Either way, things are way different. One difference is that the 2003 anime features a filler episode with Barry the Chopper, before he is turned into an Armored soul like Alphonse. This is exclusive to the first anime, as both the Manga and Brotherhood introduce him at Laboratory 5. Oh, and while in the first anime the brothers met Nina before Ed became a state alchemist, in the Manga/Brotherhood, this was wayy later, after the events of Liore.

... Did he call Switzerland and Liechtenstein brothers?

I've recently Mustang'd my love for FullMetal and I watched Brotherood for the first time this week and I can't believe I hadn't heard of it before 😐 it's beyond amazing. Also I swear some members of my family are indeed Homunculus' 🤔 they seem soulless and artificial. 😂
